Comforatable riding?

Hi there

I am thinking I want to buy a Tuono. I am wanting a bike that you could do some serious long trips comforatably with no aches or pains. I have just sold my 2003 CBR600RR. It was seriously fun bike but just torture on long rides. Seat was like a piece of wood and the riding position was very painful. I am hoping the Tuono will be quite different and fun at the same time.

Can I have your guys experiences on this?

Cheers

Woody.

Hey Woody, I do allot of long rides and its no problem for around two hours (your results may vary) before my butt starts hurting bad. And that's about the time you'll need fuel, drink something and walk it off. Maybe due to my bony bum.

Hi Woody, swapped beloved black zx636 for big black 'T' a few months ago. Arthritic neck and age forcing the issue. No pains so far (apart from too many petrol stops) and love the handling, braking, noise (AK's) and great gobbs of poke. Any gear has a whole wide range of the stuff and overtaking's a doddle! Took some getting used to with loads of engine braking after 4 cyl and 636cc! Bags of fun! Watch the speedo though -you'll be going faster than you think! I'm sure you'd enjoy big 'T'.

I agree i swapped my Caponord for the T as i wanted a bit more fun, but like the upright riding postition, getting old.... I managed 125 miles on a tank before light comes on, on motorways but generally 100 is the limit, so fuel stops are more frequent. Luggage space is sparce, but it means you pack light.
I went to the IOM last year so once there bags off it's a hoot.
But still the range could be better, a couple of laps and your thinking about fuel.
Off to Scotland this year so looking at places to fuel on the highland roads. The good thing about the lack of range is it does mean you get off and stretch your legs and get coffee down your neck at regular intervals.
Cheers and happy T buying.

Well done, 10 points.
Are you a member or are you an associate? Think i'll post a seperate posting on Advanced training.

IAM Member (BAM) - best thing I ever did! Met and have stayed pals with some great guys! 90 miles and the lights flashing on mine - how the hell did you get 125 before blinking light?
Sure you're not reading kms instead of old fashioned imperial! Gonna be worse now, new gear box sprocket will increase poke and reduce economy - am I bothered? Nah! I love this thing!

I'm with CWAM in Cov. Senior Observer, been doing it for years. I do get a bit of a pain in the A*se trying to get my mates to join. but it's worth it...
As for the 125mile, Cov to Liverpool docks in the pouring rain at 60mph max, with 4 others trying to stay alive with all that spray and crappy car drivers. Rode to the dock and light came on as i entered the ferry. Other pasangers not too amused, we were the only bikes on and when we stripped off and poured the water out of our boots, yes it was that wet. we got some funny looks. Ah the pleasures of riding in an English Summer...

Awesome information fellas thanks! I think I have made my decision thanks. Just one more thing...does the wind bother you since you are sitting more upright? Having only owned sports bikes I am used to being tucked away. Some good deals here in New Zealand. Some people have imported band new 2005 to 2007 models from Japan and US. Still in their crates and many thousand cheaper than new. Dont get a factory warranty but I have head Aprillia are reliable as all hell.

Cheers

Bought tall dark 'PUIG' screen from AF1 Racing in USA. About £100 (APRILIAS £120 and not as good or tall) Seems to do it for me but I'm a short arse! PUIG made in SPAIN but check out AF1 first to get a look(also piccies some where in this forum) Then worth doing a bit of net surfing, maybe get a good deal. Good luck and let us know how you get on?

I to have a Puig screen fitted, took a blast down to SW France last year and the T was actually a lot better and comfy than I thought. Screen worked a treat and made the really high speed stuff easy (unlike the neck breaker it used to be!) SatNav with speed camera warnings was useful as there now seem to be a lot of fixed cameras on the major routes!
I got my screen from an ebay seller in Germany cost about £60 as I remember, very easy fit and looks great too.

I have close to 30K km on Andiamo, my '07 T. I use a Roho Airhawk seat for butt comfort. 1,000 km days have been done with NO pain in the ***. (Cramped legs etc, yes... but no sore ***). I tried the Laminar Lip and I am to tall and it directs wind into my face shield (I'm 195 cm and 120 kgs). I should sell it. Going to get a luggage set up for this summer. Enjoy! Your T will whisk you at high speeds to new vistas! *grin*

G'day Woody, I still run have the standard screen on my 2007 T factory. The wind blast starts around 200kmh. Hey it does work as a speed govenor though. It gets to 200ks sooo fast compared to my old ride (1985 Gpz 900R kwaka with dailed cams, carb kit etc, etc).

Can agree, I had RSVR before the Tuono, great bike but back breaker on long journeys, went out on Sunday, 1st ride on Tuono, after about 80 miles my *** was killing me :crazy, mind you I have boney bum also, having said that I would rather have aching *** than bad back, pain goes quicker :lol, plus you can always get a softer seat.
Apart from that great, lovely riding position, was quite windy as well and didnt feel I was getting buffeted about any more than a bike with fairings, mind you I have fitted an ermax screen maybe this helped :dunno, as I never rode the bike with the standard screen on. :thumbup

Toured France last year, up to 300 miles in a day with no problems (2004 Tuono). Had a higher screen which helped with the wind blast. Fitted a Hepco & Becker rack, with a Givi mounting plate bolted to it for a top box and a pair of Oxford humpback throwovers and it was great. You have to stop every couple of hours for more fuel anyway!

i have found the mighty T comfortable to ride and as has been said before by the time your *** starts complaining, your fuel tank is thirsty! It's funny how life balances everthing out

I too fitted the Puig screen. Much better than original screen. The suggestion on the Airhawk seat seems solid too. I have yet to get one, but I have sat on one. The owner of that bike is a deputy sheriff I know who traveled form Cal to Wash D.C. and said it was perfect on the long trip. He also uses it when he works as a motor officer.

I'm a relatively tall boy (188 cm), and with my Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen installed, I have a pretty calm pool of air at helmet level.

Best of luck on the auction, Woody :thumbup

WOOHOOO Won the Auction for the bike! Got it for $9000 New Zealand Dollars which is a steal. 2004 Model in Red. Not my favorite colour but still OK. Will be putting all of you guys suggestions to good use. Cant wait to get it.
