Chuffin weather of course the bike would not start again but Im not gunna rant and rave about it just put the optimate on . Unfortuneatly me thinks the alarm is takin to much out of the yuasa battery in this colder weather so a motbatt is possibly coming my way as they are meant to fair better with colder temps .

Hi Floakey, I have a MotoBatt MBTX12-U, longest I have left it without starting is 3 days. It has a stupid Meta alarm too. Fired straght up with a handful of throttle. Won't start without the throttle when cold but getting used to it now. Got mine for £41.95 off E-Bay. Do it, you know she's worth it :inlove

I'll second that got my Motobatt last week for £35 posted off busters...........not had a prob since, starts on the button every time although I do not have a pesky alarm fitted ebbing its life force away:biggrin
Keep it on the battery conditioner though in these freezing temps!!:thumbup

I can recommend Killaprilla's uprated leads. Well worth the money. They look cool too. Thanks again Wes. :)

The main problem is the alarm and theres no getting away from it unless I ditch it . luckily for me I have a kind neighbour with a garage so I can hook up on these occassions . To be fair the yuasa is fine and I dont think most batteries survive unaided through winter with an alarm on but I'll still get a motobatt with the yuase as a spare . Right the moment of truth , bikes been on all night so should fire up .

If you have no power in your shed/garage, consider a solar charger. They only put out a few mA but they do usually do the trick. I have a really old (1975) Series III Landrover diesel, it doesn't get used much, but it always starts, I like to think the solar charger helps a bit.

Mine cost about £25 off fleabay.

Well it would not start after being on the optimate all night so did the throttle open routine , always worked in the past and only just caught it before the battery went flat . I've got the bike in a friends garage as I dont have one and its got power points in so i'm ok on that point . Its just the cold getting to the bike and me not starting it up as often I suppose .

I have the same issue floakey - but managed to knacker my sprag. Gutted! I've checked my voltages at the battery with & without the engine running and it all looks good, it just seems like the bike doesn't really like starting in the cold or wet!

Bang on mate with your conclusion , The voltages are there but cold plugs etc wont help . My sprag spun a couple of times but all seems fine . Its only for a few months and I dont really ride it in the winter anyhow.

I'm commuting (well not at the moment!) on it throughout the winter so the reliability issue is not endearing me to my wife or kids when I have to take the car to work!
