hi guys

bike seems to be only firing on one cylinder done all the checks diag code is 33 i have come to the conclusion that its not sparking on the 4a port on the coil pack

a) could i be wrong and are they prone to go

b) would it be best to buy new or second hand

c) itsa a 2008 rsvr under warrenty but closest dealer would cost me over 150 to get bike there and drive back etc etc so will just buy a coil pack

d)can anyone remember the name of the tuning/racing guy in the bedale area ams rings a bell any advice would be champion:eatcorn

cheers

The same thing happened to my bike and it ended up being the ECU. The bike blew up 3 coil packs whilst the dealer was trying to work out what was wrong with it! The ECU costs about £1500 so I would get to your dealer. It took them 5 months to get the parts for my bike but this was due to the ECU claim being rejected as another dealer had already claimed for the coil pack and said it was fixed even though it wasn't.

My advice would be take it to a dealer. If you spend the money on the coils it may blow those up too as soon as you fire it up and your back to square one!

If it's under warranty, best take it to stealer (dealer).
Coil pack went on my 06 recently, running on one cylinder, Griff took it off, cleaned connections, tested ok, refitted and fired up on both pots! Unfortunately there was still a missfire at low revs, coil was arcing inside - you could hear it with tank up. Griff say's it is unusual for coil to go faulty and recommended buying secondhand. Picked one up off Ebay for £25, fitted myself, no problems since! (new coil pack is £150+). Might be worth getting hold of a cheap secondhand coil pack and trying this first - your choice! :thumbup
