Bro's, on my previous bikes which were some years past, I always did clutchless shifts. I started of clutchless but reverted back to the clutch as I did not want to hurt my baby. Now that i've done a few mods and I'm about to do the supper bike school I just wanted to check on any precautions and technics I should adhere to. :pirateCheers Steve

you should have no issues with clutchless up-shifts. very occassionally (when really pushing on) i can't shift up to 6th (sometimes even 5th) feels from the gear lever like i'm already in top when i'm not yet but thats all

Need to watch 5th to 6th with no clutch as you might find the RSV's second neutral...

Thanks guys, was going out for a ride but now its pissing down. cheers

well i never knew this, i never used the clutch on my moto x bike but always use the clutch when ever ive been on the road! might give it a go later on!

Doing clutchless Pizza delivery then? Shake that pepperoni baby!!!:thumbup

clutchless full throttle for me when I'm gunning it(Q Shifter) and clutch in when wet weather and smooth riding. I founbd that not so elusive second neutral too!
Ck

exactly same as CK.........especially with the pizzas on the back

best not to clutchless from 1st to 2nd but ok for rest
on quick rides i need to do clutchless shifts to stop arm pump

Is theh Califorina supper bike school? If it's level 1 you won't be worrying about gear changes and stuff - you'll have other things to think about.

Clutchless upshifts are absolutely fine, because of the way the gearbox works and you're reducing the load as you go up through the gears. I always do clutchless shifts 3-4/4-5/5-6, and 2-3 in the dry. In the wet it's clutched 1-2/2-3.

Downshifts should always use the clutch because you're about to increase the engine/gearbox load/speed and it brings the revs up more gently.

Racing's a different matter, as are strokers.

Oh, yeah, I've found that embarrassing neutral when giving it the berries...

I found that second neutral too. I thought my gearbox was on its way out!!! It seems its a common thing then? Clutchless only seems to work above 6000rpm on my RSV.

Rode my newly bought RSV back home last night some 160 miles - clutchless upshifted all the way from 2nd gear no worries. Did encounter a mysterious neutral between 5th and 6th the once but that was it.
