Rsvf 04, unable to backfill oil in to resevioir, can only do clutch (line) clutch really stiff and dosnt like to go into gears, un-able to back fill! Stripped clutch leaver down and ok, but just can't understand why won't drain or re-fill from resiovoir? Ta

Have you bled the master cylinder as well as the slave?

Can't bleed the master cylinder at all, just won't empty or re-fill at resevioir, not tried to bleed slave not sure how to to that? 3 banjo bolts out then what? A bit unsure any advice would be great! Thanks

Remove the slave cylinder and have a play with it

Your saying have a play with it but surly I should be able to fill the system via the master cylinder from the resevioir, I can't get any fluid in or out of it and have stripped the clutch down and everything is clear! ??

3 banjo bolts?

Rob :)

Mine's an 09 and has a bleed nipple on both the master and the slave cylinders, and both need bleeding to get pressure in the system. If you don't have a bleed nipple, then you will need to crack open the banjo bolt to release the air.

Have you taken the rubber sock out of the reservoir?

3 bolts hold the slave cylinder in situ. You dont need to touch them.

+1 yeah I recon the rubber gaitor has been sucked down & he's trying to put fluid on top of it. :dunno

Ricco, is the reservoir clear (it should be) or black

My '09 had an episode last night after a hard rain. I was downshifting coming off the highway when the clutch got tight and wouldn't disengage ( let go of lever but it acted like I was still holding it). I thought that I might have to spray the thing down with some lube after the rain ( maybe something sticking). Opened up the reservor and found the rubber gaitor sucked down. After putting it back "up", and working the clutch a few times, it seemed to get easier and I didnt have a problem the rest of the evening. Any thoughts?

There's nowhere for the oil to go in the clutch system so the oil level in the reservoir should remain constant, if the level has dropped & sucked the gaitor down you have a leak

. . . if the level has dropped & sucked the gaitor down you have a leak

I didn't notice a drop in oil level, and can't see any external leak. I had the problem once before and "worked it out" by pumping the clutch lever.

Bizarre! ;)

Both the symptoms and fix seem to defy the basic laws of physics.
