hi have a 2000 rsv a little while now and the clutch fluid was black changed it a bleed it grand , goes in to all gears lovely and neutral but as soon as i get 2 about 5000 revs it just revs and nothing happens. is there any adjustn on them. or does this sound like new plates needed new to the rsv

If it wasn't like that before doing the fluid change it sounds like the slave pushrod is still pressing against the clutch...check the lever still has a bit of slack...if not there is a wee adjuster built into the levers pushrod...you'll need a 7mm spanner to turn it and check for a tiny allen grub screw holding it in place on the underside of the lever.....mine fell out once and the wee pushrod moved on its own doing the same to the clutch.....use threadlock if needed.

thanks for reply was only out for little spin on it as only got it so dont know if it was like this all ready.are u talking about adjustn it at hand leaver or some where else on bike

Yes ...at the hand lever...not always obvious as there is a wee rubber boot over it which is a complete c..t to get back on...even the newer bikes have the same adjuster.
These bikes do have their quirks but boy are they full of fun and character.

cheers will look in morning seems a sweet bike just lad before me didnt mind 2 well, great site for help as will need it 2 get bike right

hi bud i have the same bike and same problem ,when i first bought my bike i noticed the clutch was spongy and did`nt clear right after taking it home i found it was low on fluid. the bike had been laid up for a few years so i bled the clutch and it was fine for a while then had to bleed it again then again all the time fluid was black soon after being bled .
on monday when out to oban whith the scottish ride oot lol my clutch gave up 2 miles from my house so i took the slave off and found it to be leaking theres 2 seals 1 the main seal that makes the clutch work and 2 second small seal to seal the clutch push-rod my guess is small seal is ****** causing the main seal to go as hot engine oil making the rubber soft when i looked inside the slave with the piston out there is no wear inside and piston is good with no marks so im going to replace the 2 seals and it should be fine ..

looks like the small seal you can get on its own im sure thats no problem to me as
a gearbox builder i can get my hands on bearing and seals of any kind :)
will post my results as soon as its fixed

The popular "upgrade" is to fit Oberon clutch slave. Tash does them at discount, mate. Also, "whilst you're in there" folk also change teh clutch oil jet to a .40....

Quick search will give you more info, mate. ;)
