I need to bleed my clutch urgently, but can't find the black fluid stocked anywhere. Does anyone know of a supplier, or should I just grind up some coal and add that to the normal stuff?

have you tried halfords ?

ours didnt have any in stock, i managed to find a local breaker who is more than happy to supply as much as we want, so if anyone else is stuck, just send me a pm, a nominal charge may apply.

I changed mine with a leading brand of fluid on offer from the local suzuki centre ..... Thought I'd been fobbed off with some golden ***** when I put it in, but as if by magic, it turned a lovely dark crud colour! Awesome! :)

what is the deal with this though lol seriously i installed a new slave, line and fluid and she still managed to pull off her party trick!

I have to do my clutch each year, just did it last week. I'm amazed how the fluid goes black so soon. I should have a decent clutch for a few months now, fingers crossed.
Think its another quirk of the bike.

just add squid ink, works a treat and no one will ever know

Like your thinking :thumbup
Personally I just scrape up all the burnt ***** from my oven then blend with some dot 5.1 and bingo, instant clutch fluid perfection :yes

Shoot me down in flames somebody if i'm wrong but I believe it's got something to do with rubber o rings, gaskets or something similar that interacts with the brake fluid which the discolours it.

Sure Keith B will solve the mystery to all.

TM yer got it mucker :thumbup

The seals discolour the fulid and yer better stickin wae DOT4 rather than DOT5.1

Does yer clutch no work cause yer juice is dark and gank, are yer wee fingers to weak tae pull the lever in. :beer2

If the darkness scares the **** oot yer, put one of them sock feckers roon yer reservoir, but make it nice and Pink. :thatsgay

Man up ya Fuds.

i read some where about using silicon grease on the seals and silicon fluid in the system to cure the problem ,but they also said don't use in braking system as could make brakes fail

My Yamaha did this 'til I replaced the seal on the slave cylinder.

SNAP!

My Tuono also did this until I changed the slave cylinder seal.....and still did it afterwards :lol

Still does it ....even with a new MPL s/cyl :lol :lol

TBH, I kinda like the black fluid in the left hand reservoir.....it's soOOooooo Diane Abbott ;)

New Oberon cylinder here and still a touch of Mary Quant going on also..... Once you had black there's no going back!
