clutch bleeding

i have an 07 rsvr 2 months old with 1700 miles on the clock.

i've had to bleed the clutch twice since i've had it, is it worth taking it back to the dealers or will i be wasting my time.

i have seen some threads about it but most are the older models and they don't seem to have cured it.

It'll will almost certainly be coverered under warranty fella, there is an Aprilia Tech bulletin that the dealers have for a replacement revised clutch master cylinder. It was a problem on the early new model 2003.5 onwards RSVR's but it look like it's still happening with yours :confused

The clutch M/C revison just changed the angle of fluid passages within the M/C to help the bleeding process. The root cause is still there which is temperature related.
High temp race fluid helps a lot but it needs to be low hydroscopic stuff which a lot of race fluid isn't. Castrol Gold is about the best but expensive.

ok will ring the dealers in the morning and see what they have to say.

the fluid i've been using is semi synthetic 5.1

I think you'll find if you mean DOT 5.1 that that spec fluid doesn't mix with DOT 4 and it can cause all sorts of problems if put into systems that weren't specifically designed to take it, namely with seals etc. Might be worth keeping that fact to yourself!!

that was all i had in the garage at the time i've put a lot of it through so it won't be mixed.

not heard about it being a problem with seals though.

You don't need to bleed the clutch with fresh fluid. The problem is with the self bleed on the clutch master cylinder itself. You just need to undo the bleed nipple next to the clutch lever, then carefully pull in the lever, then retighten the nipple. repeat a couple of times and all good again, Just be cafeful of any small amounts of fluid escaping from the bleed nipple so place a cloth over the tank area and wipe away any excess. DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are fine to mix, it's DOT 5.0 thats not compatible as it's silicone based.
