hi guys,
i'm looking at buying some new cleaning products ie degreaser/soap, wax/polish and i also want to buff up the paint work a little, any suggestions welcome, thanks rod...:cheers

Hey Rod.

Degrreasers, I've tried auto glym, muck off, and castrol. Castrol probs the best but they're all much of a muchness.
I just use turtle tripple wax for shampoo.
For buffing up paint work you can't go past auto glym super resin polish...makes your paint look like glass!

Thumb for Muckoff. Or SDOC stuff (rated in PBR, but I've not yet tried it). As for shineyness, I did a 3 stage Meguirs on my yellow one, which worked a treat. Now, I "clean" it with Meguirs detail spray (if its not too mucky), then Protect and Shine 645 by (IIRC) Motorax. Its indecent stuff, but do NOT get it near the brakes...... Best advice for any spray on stuff - spray directly onto a cloth away from the bike, then apply. ;) For alloy bits / downpipes etc, the Auto sol Solvol. Need teeny amounts, but a fair bit of elbow grease....

If doing salty / wet riding, then once the thing is cleaned and shineyed (as above) then spray LIBERALLY with ACF 50. Busters etc do it, and i HIGHLY recommend the pump bottle not the aerosol. Also SDOC do a similar thing. Basically, ACF50 is "Anti-corrosion-formula 50" and was developed by the US Navy for their Aircraft carriers and aircraft on them to repel salt. Tis a once-a-year application. I used it on my naked Hornet and teh downpipes weren't touched by the winter salt etc. Its good to go on anything, even electrical gubbins, but again, do NOT get near brakes, or you will NOT stop.... If any danger of being near brakes, then clean brakes off liberally with brake cleaner and try to NOT use the bike on the road straight away just in case - DO try the brakes afore venturing quickly... ;)

Also, to degrease / de-brake-dust wheels, Pledge is untouchable. Same deal with the discs, though - avoid contact / spray and / or use brake cleaner afterwards.

Phew!

I use two 8ltr garden water sprayers. One with clear water and the other with caravan cleaner solution. An assortment of painters long handled radiator brushes help to aggitate in the tight fiddly bits. Ive also bought this waterless cleaner solution which also acts as a polish and its brilliant for the paint work. Tar and bug spray acts as a great degreaser for the sprocket. I dont do any of this very often though - I thought Id get that in before the usual suspects pipe up.

I really need a front paddock stand to help with cleaning the front wheel.

Never used the ACF50 though. Ive heard its very good but you dont need very much at all.
