Clattering Factory!

Hi Guys, My factory has started making an awful clacking/clattering sound from around the top end under load from cold. Once up to temp, the noise largely disappears. Also using anything other than 98 octane fuel is causing huge amounts of engine vibration. Not sure if these issues are related but both started on a road trip down through France which I have just nursed the bike back from. My initial thoughts were a detonation problem but using octane booster whilst away only solved the vibration issue and UK fuel hasn't improved the engine clatter. Any ideas or advice would be really appreciated.

Cam chain tensioner eh, hadn't considered that one! Bike has 20k on it now and I have always used Mobil 1, so no change in oil or spec. Is the tensioner much of a job or is it a Main Stealer visit? I see you are in Southampton Snowman, the only agents I know of are Riders at North Baddesley, who do or would you use?

Sadly Riders went a few years ago , don't know how easy the tensioner is to do , my factory only done 14k,. PS... I live in N, Baddesley it was acouple of older gents ran the garage , really good guys , see em out sometimes on there 50/60s triumphs, shame it got sold think it was their retirement fund

Thanks for that Snowman, I had no idea they had ceased trading. Do you know of any other agents in the area or close to the IOW?

CMW Chichester are Ape dealers but I don't know what they are like , if I have a problem I chat to the boys at AP they are the boys IMO , you could try RSVR site they are on the ball also as lots track day their bikes etc so come across more problems due to ragging em ?
