Hopefuly tonight i will be fitting a new chip to my 03 mille. In laymans terms is this the correct way of doing it. . . .

1. seats off
2. battery terminals off
3. connection blocks from ecu
4. take 4 screws out
5. take chip out and replace with new

now just the reverse.

have i missed anything? no little reset buttons or nowt????

I know i sound like a **** but i just want to get it right. i have done this before but as you may have read my other post about lack of midrange, i don't want to look like an ***** and leave something to chance.

Cheers.

When you put the chip out, remember how it was turned, theres a mark on one side, thats about it. And when you take it out, use a flat screwdriver or something and slowly pop one side a little then another and so on, so you dont brake the legs.

I did not even disconnect the battery...

Chip is marked so is the chip platform if you look you can see the difference and its easy to get the new chip right.

Fitted a Dr Rossi one couple of weeks ago...really straightforward, didn't disconnect battery just unplugged ECU....think you still have to be careful like you do when you fit PC stuff about earthing yourself first (touching the ECU box while you touch new chip etc) ....you'll have to prise off the silicon stuff that holds the old one securely and use some new stuff to hold the new one in place (I didn't as didn't have any and just wated to get out for a blast:)...but guess u should)

So what kind are you installing?
Check if wire is cut while you are at it and connect diag cable and check dash for 0.
Remeber to unwind idl screw first.
Disconnect diag cable aftherwards.
I never disconnect the battery

Thankyou gentleman. I'll let you all know tomorrow how i get on (if the chip turns up).

I have a chip which I bought on ebay a few months ago and never got round to fiting.

Apparantly it came from one of the bikes from the Aprilia challange.

Up for grabs if anyone wants it.

Just as a matter of interest Dr.Rossi, why undow the idle screw?

Fitted the chip and the midrange has returned! obviously the chip and exhaust were not ment for each other! thanks again.
