Just for fun and not to make a meal of it:
How big are your chicken strips?
I went out for my first decent run of about 180 miles on my Tuono v4 after setting it all up for the summer. Although I am running Michelin Pilot ROAD 3s, which came with the bike, the handling of my bike was great.

A few mm front and zero rear :thumbup

Can't be arsed going out to take a photo though lol.

Tut tut Derick, must try harder badge for you, still, you've got all summer to redeem yourself and get rid of the last inch on the rear :biggrin:biggrin

Unfortunately strips like my 50yr old waist, wide, must try harder

Yes... I hold my head in shame...
I thought I'd done quite well getting the bike over as far as I did. :laugh

No rear strips at all on any of my bikes, That does not make me a good rider, I am just a tight Yorkshire man and I don't know of any tyre company/bike shop that does a refund for the unused tread.
You bought it use it all. :cheers

You know, you have a good point there. I too am a Yorkshire man but live in Cheshire... Note to self: DO NOT FORGET YOUR ROOTS!

Good question Derick, and interesting feedback. The more experienced Tuono riders on here have previously stated Tuonos can out handle most riders, and have no problem going to the tyre edge.

Must confess, my rear M7RR (190/50/17) chicken strips are still about 6 - 8mm, but with the encouragement of this thread, planning to eradicate them well before they're due for replacement.

That said, rear profile makes a big difference, as does riding style. A rider who hangs off his bike will have better traction and bigger chicken strips! (That's my excuse anyway! Arf arf!)

Paul, you are correct, my T had Michelin Pilot Power 3's fitted when I bought and had no issues with remove the chicken strips on the rear and small ones on the front, I swapped these for my preferred Pirelli Rosso Corsa'a and unless you are on the track it's damn near impossible to get to the edge.

It is interesting what you have said here. I fitted Pilot Power3 on another bike I own last year (Husky Nuda900R) and I've often thought the cornering has changed from the OEM Metzler's. No better of worse, just different characteristics. Even though the pilot power3's are the same size, I wonder if the actual cross section profile is different.

Well said Tifa, it's all about fun on the bike at the end of the day and coming home safe :thumbup

Ditto
Dunlop Sporties.

OP....don't get hung up on chicken strips fella....it's unimportant, and a sure way of ending up in a wheelchair.

Couldnt agree more :thumbup

But that said when I had some all I wanted was to get rid of them. Bit like herpes I suppose
