Cheap and effective sidestand mod 2004 onwards

Just modded my sidestand to stop it leaning over too far.
This mod also gives a slightly wider footprint making it more stable in high winds.
Basically its just a shaped piece of 6mm thick steel, welded to the bottom of the sidestand foot.
One small weld on each side and on on the rear. Simple but very effective.
Not sure how to add photos. I will add photos if anyone can help.

Thanks but photobucket stuff sounds too complicated for me. I can e-mail pics to someone if they supply an e-mail adress

The main problem with the Euro/UK stand is that it does not lean over FAR enough.
By welding that extended foot (can't see that you've altered the stand angle) you have in effect made the problem worse. Sorry.
If you want to check the stability of your stand out (assuming you have a pump or compressor to hand) wheel the bike on to level ground, and simply let the air out of the rear tyre.
Do be prepared to catch it though!

I'm pretty sure you'll agree that a rear tyre deflation shouldn't cause the bike to topple.

My bike is a 2005 factory and I promise you it was leaning over way too far. Dangerously so.
The angle now is great and I have no fear of it being blown over.
Is it not the early models which suffered from being too upright?
