Hi people
I have an 04 RSVR Factory. Battery keeps going flat & the bike is not sending any charge to it. Loathed to drop it into my dealer as they are useless & charge the earth.

Anyone out there with similar problems, experience or advice of what to check???
 
I think most on here use an optimate trickle charger to keep the battery in top condition. Apparently these bikes use that much juice to get it started, that the bike needs at least a 10 mile run just to put back the power it uses to start it :eatcorn

Thanks 4 that. Yep, 2 cylinders, big compression, tough on batteries. I bought a new one about 4 months ago. Got a charger & battery is charging fine. I'm assuming it is an issue with the generator, as there is no charge being returned to the battery by the bike when running / revving! Currently I have dissconnected lights, indicators etc to save on battery draw but this is obviously an issue, especially as I am due to ride to France soon!!!
 
check this thread and you could do a search for more threads on the same subject. Some clever peeps on here mate to help you out :thumbup (btw im not one of the clever ones :biggrin)
 
look behind the rad expansion tank for a brown connector with yellow wires.

If it looks melted don't ride the bike and rip it out join the wires directly over the the top of the rad instead.

A giveaway will also be the dash voltage showing any less than about mid 12v's but ideally should be 13 +.

If the connector is duff it can destroy the stator when the contacts get exposed and touch something that's earthed. Then kiss goodbye to lots of pennies

Hi,Im new to this site and have had charging issues too_Over the last few weeks I have had a new battery,stator and rectifier and still the volts on the dash only show 11 volts or so,I like most of you would like to keep out of the dealers if I can, have spent a fortune before and got nowhere fast.If anyone has any Ideas would be greatfull .Thanks Lennie
