Hi,

as i really don't know whom better to ask. What are the upgrades done, from say 2005 to 2009? Talking both the original version and the R version?

Thanks

R version is the plain version on '06 and newer. The big change was '05 to '06, Tuoldo to Newono. Majorly re-vamped body works and improved engine tuning. Best I can do for now at three in the am. Paul or weeksy will be more eloquent. Google the 2005 and the 2006 version and that will will help, too.

Well,

reason i ask is partly due to my fix of moding.
Also need to know, if trading, what i go for.

I was doing a heavily reworked Buell xb12s, changed to Kawa Z1000. Couldn't keep my hands off it. Loads of cash in that too. Realized i was like running to fast (for those bikes), with both and wind was the problem. Bought a ZX10R, that piece was stolen after 9days. I had hell with insurance company. Ended up buying a R1 (08). What a bike. It's totally crazy. The confidence in this is enormous. I am starting to doubt my licens will handle this one. I am trying to find a bike which is not so biased at running so fast. I look for handling, torque and some sort of wind protection. I could live with an old school race bike to. Mostly due to the fact that they are so cool.
You know, a big S&S engine in a more race inspired chassis. Wakan Track Racer is really cool, but way too expensive.

Tuono is looking nice. Both ugly and cool. Though i wonder, if this platform is not soon to be changed for that of the new RSV4.

That was a little something of me. I really should like to try the Tuono. I don't know if it's
a smart move to do an even change over to Tuono from the R1. Hm, much money invested in this one to. i'd really like to get more specific detail and knowledge of this bike.
Anyone!!?

mate ... i went from suz gsxr 750
to tuono...lovin it large lol , miles better, i feel like a proper hooligan hahahah

if u thought u would lose licience on yer R1 ..well tuono is worse , it gives you MORE confidence than
any jap 4 sportsbike has ever given me !!
its upto u wether u think that is bad thing or good thing !!
There is also a comfort issue too, which swayed it for me .
My mates on their jap 4s simple cant keep up on the twistys , i spend a hell of a lot of time waitin for em to catch up !

Read THIS POST

I think it covers everything.

I also posted this lot:

They are almost different bikes.

I've answered this before somewhere....but here goes.

Tuoldo (Gen 1) 02 - 05

Taller & larger than later model, based on the 2003 mille.
Single headlight etc.
You sit ON it when you ride.
V990 engine with 51mm TB's about 113 RWHP
Single can, 2-1 exhaust - flat spot in power from 5-6k, then loads.
Engine does produce a bit more grunt at low (2-3k) revs.

Tunuo (Gen 2) 06 - 09

Smaller and lower than early version, based on 06 RSVR
twin headlights, tail as per RSVR
You sit IN it to ride, much more like a japanese bike feel. Feet further forward.
Magnesium or Evo Engines 54 or 57mm TB's dependant on age, about 121 or 126 rwhp.
Twin Exhausts, linear power - but bias towards top end.

Rough model history

02 - Tuono R model. Carbon, Ohlins and Oz parts. Limited edition, rare & georgious
03 - Tuono Fighter. Tulip red/Gold, Magnet grey/Gold. Black Brembo wheels. Showa/Sachs. Plastic bodywork
03 - Tuono Racing. Black, yellow number boards. Carbon bodywork, Ohlins, white Oz wheels. Also race bellypan, nose and other bits. Close ratio gearbox.
04 - Tuono R (again) Black/red wheels, Silver/red wheels, Fluoro red/black wheels, Showa/Sachs. Basically same as Fighter model but new colours
04 - Factory. Similar to Racing, blue Oz wheels, Ohlins. white number boards. No race gear.
05 - None produced - they are 04's

06 - New Model based on RSVR. uses Magnesium series engine. Blue Oz looky-likey wheels, Showa/sachs suspension, colours, red/black or black/grey or silver/grey.
07 (07.5 USA) Evo Engine, colours red/black, matte black/grey, or blue/white - so called "Greek flag".
07 - Factory. Evo Engine, Red Lions head tank Oz wheels (blue at first, gold later), Ohlins suspension, Carbon bodywork.
08 - R model new colours - white replaced black/grey
09 - R model colours - silver, blue/white & Orange
09 - Factory - Black dream colour scheme

I might not have all the colours right for the last year or so - as it's difficult to establish exactly when they change, and the importer still had stock of some colours. I haven't covered some of the really tiny details but it should be a rough guide.
