Sadly, in March, im going to start commuting over 100miles a day (55 each way). Thats a bit rude to put on a limited edition, mint, 07 Bol D'or and would devalue it massivley ... and thats assuming it can take that sort of punishment - be honest, these aren't jap are they :dowhat

So, I just fired up biketrade and 07 RSV-R's are going for 6grand! :devious That means I can sell it, in its mint condition, with Titanium Leo Vince SBK, datatools, scott oiler etc and should easily get £6500 and I would make a profit on the price I paid of £1400 :doug That 1400 then buys me an old XJ6 or summint that gets me reliably to work and back - and i dont care what it looks like coz it was effectivley "free".

Now, don't get me wrong, im going to be totaly gutted to get rid of, but that sort of money is not to be sniffed at and when I start commuting those distances (500 miles a WEEK) you know its not going to handle it :dunno

So, just need to get the warranty work sorted on the front wheel and then its going on Biketrader and Ebay

Anyone want it?

Wasn't the only one, there are a few on there within traveling distance of my gaff. Its just above 6grand that they jump to factory's.

I'm currently looking at bikes on biketrader that I can change too... gona be a shock, a commuter ER5 is well within price range but... oh ... my ... days ... its an ER5 ... about as much Horsepower as my dog:biggrin

Sorry dude, I think your pissed brand new factories are going for 7800 and rsvr's are going for 6.5k

Good luck if you can get £6500 Stuza, but as new 08/09 RSVR's are £6695 otr at the moment, i think £5500 would be more optimistic

I have about 3 weeks to try n source a cheap as chips commuter (free would be nice!) and get the wheel repaired either by Aprilia or dealer - dont care who, just know im not paying for it.

If I can't get a cheap commuter then ..... i'll let you know how I get on :bawling

edit: oh and the Bol D'or you linked to doesn't come with very expensive titanium pipes, scott oiler, datatools, datatag and other assorted smaller mods. It would go on for 65 but I would hope to get just above 6 for it which would give me somewhere above a grand profit.

i had an xj6 4.0 daimler sov cost me 500 squid and lasted 2.5 years

why waste more than a grand on one

or do you mean a ******* yamaha thingy :) lol ??????

Assuming you mean car? Two problems with that:

1 - don't have a car license :dunno
2 - have you seen the M25!:biggrin

Er yeah, I suspect IF i do this, I might be able to track down an old Xj600/er5 for a few hundred. That would be ample to fight my way through the crap and rain at 7am on the M25. No fun though but hey .....

nah mate, just ride an enjoy, 56.6k trouble free miles, mind you thats on an 'non-fragile' early model ..arf.
Good luck withthe sale.

:eek::eek:

You got 56k miles out of yours without any issues? :doug Mines an 07 so shouldn't be a fragile early model :thumbup Do you use it in all weathers? If you do, I might just keep it!

Yes matey, I kick its arse every day.(I expect about 70-90k out this motor.)
No probs other than the oe battery going **** up at 43K. it scrubs up well too.
Once this motor is worn out I will just slot another(low mileage-hardly used) one in. Its made fer a good thrashing even in all weathers-peeps get soooo hung up on mileage these days

:devious Excellent! You've just made my possible sale a lot harder ... might keep her now :thumbup

I don't think its milage as such, its that Italians have such a well deserved poor rep at build quality that ones with high miles are more likely to go wrong. However, if you got 56 out of your later model then there is no reason to expect less on mine :doug

Thanks very much!:biggrin

Remeber Stuza the motor is Austrian so no italian quirks in there.

Rsv4 - now that could get interesting.

yeah matey, I'm surpised at the (?lack) of build quality on your later model, mine stands up to abuse fine. Certainly the motors are robust enough for me.Hell even my clutch plates were only slightly blued at46K!

To be fair to my bikes history, 2 of its issues were caused by dealers not installing scott oiler and datatools correctly - can't really blame Aprilia for that :biggrin

The only real issue I have at the moment is that the paint is flaking off the front wheel. Maybe thats a quirk of the red paint on Bol D'ors? Either way, this will be resolved by either warranty or "Not of Merchantable quality" under the sales of goods act - basicaly, won't cost me any money. The sluggish performance in rain rarely happens, I suspect this might be something really simple ... if i knew anything about motors :roll

edit: Didn't know the motor was Austrian (remember, i barely recognise spanners!). That pretty much makes it German which means it probably good for a 100k easy. Good to hear!

yeah they are great motors indeed. I would check your HT leads, mebbe water is pooling around these, or the connections are a bit duff. I have redone(or the garage did) most of the electrical connectors on the bike just to make sure. But mines is an old model so prolly needed it.
cheers Ck
