Hi Guys,

Im ready for a new chain and sprocket for my 2002 RSV-R, Im just wondering if anyone can recommend any good ones please? :thumbup

Pm tash or griff

i got rental sprox and a ek gold chain from tash for a great price, and next day delivery

Gotta be an afam xhrc red chain Afam front and renthal rear
Go for -1+2 on the sprox, with std 108 link chain, gives a nice short wheelbase.
Renthal chain is good and abit cheaper.
Had two DIDs break on me so i dont use them
Now

I've had a Tsubaki Gold X-Ring chain on mine for about 4 years now along with Renthal gold sprockets, 16/44 gearing. Coupled up with careful checks and adjustment when required and a Scotoiler its hardly stretched at all and the sprockets are exhibiting very little signs of wear.

Many prefer 15/42 gearing but I'll vote to 16/44 too for more high mileage, expecially one teeth more in the front is doing good for that.

Are you referring to Gen 2 bikes there steelman?. They were 16/40 stock straight from the crate whereas the Gen 1 was 17/42. Common mod on Gen 1 bikes is to drop 1 tooth on the front and increase 2 on the rear. Some folk drop 2 teeth on the front and go up 2 on the rear to go the 15/44 route.

With what you mention regarding going to 15/42 on the Gen 2, that's essentially the same as most do with the Gen 1 i.e. going -1 on the front and +2 on the rear. :)

Yes, I was on the g 2 details while I belived that the case has been the same with g 1 ( what it has almost been).

Yeah, you are indeed correct!!!. We achieve the same end result by doing the same thing whether it be a Gen 1 or Gen 2 bike!!!. :)
