Hi chaps, I know its a honda classic bike, but someone on here may be able to advise me. Brought 82 cb750 with no V5, brought old bikes in this way before, but this ones chassis No & reg No, dont match. What will happen, I have sent off the form for a V5, DVLA will see its incorrect. Bollocks, Im pissed off now. I did a reg check before getting bike, all came back fine, but I didnt have frame number until I picked bike up..DOH..:thumbdown

They may have been informed about the change of chasis on the bike, if its had an accident etc.
Worst thing will be a q reg, I think, but not 100% sure on that.
Fingers crossed for you mate

Thanks man, the reg check came back as no accidents, trouble is, thats the reg, not the chassis, Im confused! Q plate will effect the value of this classic...:bawling

It could be a genuine mistake somewhere along the line, and the DVLA may not be aware of the problem and issue the V5.
I had a Fazer1000 once, and when it went in for its mot, the tester noticed the chasis number didn't match the log book. I thought the same as you, oh ****. Turns out the dealer had cocked up, there were 2 fazers out there with wrong details, so they had to sort it out, not that thats going to help you, as you'll have th same problem come your mot, so all the above is a waste of time & space - sorry bud.

No problem, I could read bike related ***** all day..lol.. I was'nt sure if guys on here would be interested in non T related stuff, but what the hell. I love bikes & my Tuono is one of them...I will do a thread on other bikes we like or own soon, when I have come round from this **** up..

1982 CB750,....is that the one with the DOHC engine?(Looks a bit like an overgrown SuperDream)

when you bought the cb did the previous owner give you a receipt with the chassis /frame number on ,at worst it could be stolen /ringer i hope its not but sorry i can`t offer and good news..I hope it turns out ok....keep us posted..

Yes milky, they are my worst fears..will let you know what happens. Very vauge receipt, Egay purchase...oh ****..

did you pick the bike up from the guys house and do you remember where it was ,just in case ,could be its had a second hand frame and it was to much hassle to re-register it so its on its old vin number not the newer or older as it might be now..i once fitted a brand new replacement frame to a cb550 after a bad off and it came from honda with no frame number and had to refit old vin plate , so your cb750`s number must have some history somewhere..

Yes mate, I remember the address I got it from (not quite that bad memory yet), also got receipt with name and address on. Dont think that counts for much though...

I had the same thing on a CCM I had , only came to light when electronic MOT,s came in.
The dealer had screwed on the wrong reg plate on the bike when they sold it to the first customer years back, I was thinking I had bought a stolen bike eek.
Local DVLA guy came out and inspected it in my works car park and I was issued a new V5 so the reg and frame number matched

Nothing wrong with chatting about other bikes on here, especially the older stuff.

Most of us have been biking for many years & will have some experience of the older bikes.

As we get older we seem to collect them for various reasons rather than part ex / sell them for a newer model.

Could be a genuine mistake.....possible for stuff that would have had the old buff log book transferred onto VSS (DVLA's vehicle system) as the new entries were hand typed into the system, but for later stuff possibly not, how far wrong is the frame number on the V5?

If you reckon it is a genuine mistake the DVLA can pull up details of the original paperwork that was used to register it, if that matches the bike you have they will ammend the system, if it doesn't you'll need work out if a) the bike was re-framed (Qplate application) or b) someone just put that V5 with the bike (new registration application and possibility to get an age related mark, not affecting value)

I worked for the DVLA for a number of years in a previous life, if you need any help give me a shout, most processes haven't changed all that much.....

Zuki, thanks mate, I am hoping it will go down as a frame change, I had sent an application for a V5 in the post, before I realised the VIN was not the same age, as the reg age, the frame is 79/80 and reg number is an 82 bike! I am going to wait for a reply from DVLA, if the V5 is issued, all will be fine, if not, I will see what is required of me..Bike was last taxed in 07. fD.

Daz, there's a chap over on visordown that does HPI's for a tenner (but I think for 20squids he can do a JPI which is off the frame number - why HPI won't do this is beyond me!!!!) his forum name is Yodi, at least he'll tell you the history of the frame you have and will either put your mind at rest or realise the sinister!!

Deacs :thumbup

Had letter from DVLA today, says thet are dealing with my request and V5 will be with me soon? Hope it just arrives with no hassel..fD
