Anyone used castrol GTX semi synth car oil in their bike? about to drop the oil and spotted that ASDA have got 4L of the stuff for £10 :eek:mg beats the £40 that the local stealers are charging for Silkolene semi synth!

erm, I dont think You want to do that. Dont really know why but I read an article in Bike Mag a few years back giving very good reasons why not. Some techie will be along soon to back this up.

Yeah supposed to be because the anti friction stuff in car oil will make the clutch slip, thing is, only some have it in and I have no idea about GTX :-s clutch is slipping anyway so I don't think I've got a huge amount to lose :p

You cant use ANY oil that has this symbol

on it because it contains friction modifiers that will damage your clutch.
I use Mobil 1 15w-50 fully synthetic, but i cant reccomend you do.
Takes ya chances

BAD IDEA mate.. .. .. :exclamation
Stick with Motul 15W50 semi , its the best oil I've come across, clutch runs really smoooooth....

I've had just about every brand of oil in my lump over the last eight years and Motul wins every time - Expensive I know but I'd rather pay good money for oil than waste money on engine work later on down the line....

There is a shop that advertises in the back of MCN every week and they sell Motul at very reasonable prices.
Just keep a lookout for the biggest Motul advert, you can't miss it....
