As far as im aware only if its a 3 wheeler is it legal to drive with a bike licence, 4 wheels equals car licence mate :thumbup

Looked into this a while back, if its under 600kg without revesrse its considered a quadricycle, and I believe it can be driven on a full motorcycle license. Though I understand theres is also a new license catagory for trikes, so may depend on when you passed your test.
Not 100% on all this it's a bit of a minefield now, which is why I gave up on the idea, gonna get on my car test in the new year.

Ok as a bike instructor I have to no about licenseing laws so here we go if you passed your test befor 2001 you should have catogory B1 which means you can ride/drive 3 wheel vehicles such as trikes and robbin relients(no reverse gear) however if you passed your test after 2001 you cannot have these vehicles you must have a full car license this also goes for road legal quads, basicly your bike license intitles you to ride a bike nothing else.:)

We are proud to offer the complete range of AIXAM cars at Websters, available up until now only in France. AIXAM quadricycles have now arrived in the U.K. and you may be surprised to know that they are driveable with a B1 Motorcycle Licence.

These vehicles have 4 wheels AND a reverse gear!

This should also be followed up with the statement....you can no longer obtain a B1 licence since there is no recognised test to enable you to hold a B1 licence as the category is a carry over from licensing changes. Motorcycle tests provide you with category A (or restricted A1), car tests grant you category B, which supercedes the requirements for category B1 and hence enables you to drive category B1 vehicles. Note that B auto would not allow you to drive a B1 vehicle unless it was automatic.

B1 definition; Motor tricycles, quadricycles and three or four-wheeled vehicles with an unladen weight of no more than 550kg.

Note no restrictions regarding reverse gear.

Now.....the changes were effective from 1st January 1997.

If I was you I wouldn't bother though, watching grass grow greener for 28 days is probably more interesting :nana

Hopefully this clears it up. Did you notice that emu thing had it's head in the sand? Must of been looking for the dvla information that isn't on the Aixam site.....oh yes, that would be because they are selling them, and lets face it, a sales person always tells the truth....don't they? :dowhat

lol.

I've got a, b, b1, d and d1. Only passed my full bike test in 02 but did car in 97. Missed out on being able to drive a luton van on my car license, which is a bit annoying seeing as a bus is bigger and i can drive one of them as long as it's auto

the little french cars can be driven without a license at all I believe here in France - they're called sans permit and are aimed at oldies who need to get to the shops

Deacs :thumbup
