Hi,

I want to do a carbon tank cover, I've found this post but is the any one else?

http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198061&highlight=carbon+tank+cover&page=3

I've bought some carbon and epoxi resin to try to do something like this.

Could somebody help me? Or tell me where could I find more instructions to do it right?

This is my starting point

Carbon mods website has a video about laminating, and they have a sister site (composite materials) that shows the pressure method. you may be able to get something from them i.e, release materials ect.

I'm planning on having a shot at laminating a few parts soon.

queens yor starting on the worst part for a beginner ie the curves n wot not practice the wrap on summit small and flat first im getting my guy to do mine me personally i would not attempt the the tank as a first piece

well I continue with my project, I only have few moments to do it. I sand it with an orbital sander and 180 grit, then I clean it with water.

Next step, sand it again with a 80 grit, clean it with water and soap and after this with acetone. And the starting with the CF

I think it is too expensive. Here I can do it for 300€ by a professional.

Sand the tank takes 2,5h.

1m2 of carbon cost 35€
1kg of epoxi resin cost 42€ (HQ)

Cheers

thats looking great QM :thumbup - how hard was it to get to fit right (as in follow the curves)?
