Carbon swingarm protectors - who's got em

O

OZMILLE

Hi Guys

Just bought some spanking carbon fibre swingarm covers from the great ol UK!!

These are the full length ones, purchased as the left side has a small ding thats
erkin me every time I polish the bugger!!

Question, who's fitted them and what do you think, any pics??

Also, they recomend either using double sided tape or a silicon sealant. Can anyone recomend a good method. The silcon sounds like a reasonable idea, not sure about the
double sided tape, dont like the idea of them blowing of down the highway.

Anyone had good results, and what are they??

Cheers Pete'

I got the smaller versions, and tried araldite first but it kept sliding down before it set, so took it all off and used clear silicone sealant and some insulating tape to hold them in place, till it dried.

Tip - hold the guard up into place and make a couple of small felt pen marks where it is going, then put the sealant on the guard and apply using your marks and tape it into position, leave it for a couple of days to go off, then remove tape and felt pen mark with water and bubbles, jobs a good un :biggrin

Unibond .... Repair Extreme - Power Glue :thumbup

Just google it mate ................ I know for a fact its been tested at 280 mph and stayed in place :biggrin

If your going faster than that afraid i cant help ya :devious

Ive got the short ones and stuck them on with black foam double sided tape i got from a local car parts shop called Partco, its REALLY sticky and gets a real grip when warmed with a heat gun.
Ive snapped number plates in half trying to remove them from cars after theyve been stuck on with that tape.

Where did you buy your swingarm protectors from?
Would like to see some pics when youve fitted them :thumbup

I am not really sure, so If I am talking nonsenses just ignore me :):nana
but I think better will be whe you will fix the carbon swingram protector by clip and not the glue. That is moreusefull. My friend have some these carbons on his Tuono and it fits very well and he didn´t lose it on the curcuit.:thumbup

Hey

That sounds ok, however how would you attach them like that??????

You would have to mount something already to the swingarm in the 1st place.

I am worried about the glue just incase I want to remove and clean again one day, without destroying the carbon, would the tape be better for this?????

Cheers Pete

This is the tape i used http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170318539469 it is the proper stuff to use.
If you gently warm it with a hairdryer or something it will get a REAL instant and lasting grip.
When it comes to removal you just have to do your best to pry the stuff you stuck on off and the tape left on the bike will come off with a toffee wheel and youll never know it was there.
