Good afternoon to you all,
I had a weee Mishap a few days ago where my chain snapped at the soft link causing a little bit of damage to the swing arm this has now been welded and at the same time the large ish dent and gouge behind the exhaust (previous owner) has been filled with weld, but as you can all imagine it is ugly as hell i have 4 options ! Sand it..fill it..powder coat it or remove all the anodised coating.. Gring down the welds and go through the process of polishing it (to do this more weld is needed cus the dent isn't flush) or fit carbon covers or the obviouse buy a new 1 (really don't want to do that because a good 1 ain't cheap) soo at the moment carbon seems the best option and at £70ish for them don't seem so exspensive either but not sure how they look and are they gunna fit good or stand of a couple of mm ? Help much appreciated

I'm thinking about some myself and believe they only stand off the thickness of the tape you stick them on with.

I use a 3m trim tape and is only a couple of mm thick.

Depends on what ones you buy. The ones taken directly off a mould from the swing arm itself are the most commonly available. I have them fitted to my Mille. They are fitted using adhesive pads but are tricky to get to fit and sit correctly. They will sit a couple of mm proud of the swing arm once fitted but this is unavoidable.

If you do a search on the forums you will see a good few posts on the subject including some from myself regarding the fitting of them ( and some pictures ).

Despite the fact that some folk regard them as "stick on tat" I think they look excellent once fitted. And of course they go some way to hiding any blemishes ( not that my bike had any before I fitted them, I just liked the look of them ) as well as giving the alloy some protection.

get it powder coated and be done with it matey, you may get clearance issues on exhaust side with a CF cover, I know there wasnt room on my 02 mille between the swinger and my akra can.

Problem solved ......ish managed to get it blasted and powder coated through work !!but hea is the tricky bit !!! It needs to be lead filled as normal filler will not stand the heat of the powder coat process....

Will do.... Scraped the lead filling bit and took it to a local aluminium fabricator that's going to work his magic on it building it up and brazing it back and then it's off to the powder coaters (after blasting)all this for £45, providing it turns out right I'm a happy man :)
