Howdy,
I'm trying to track down some replacement carbon work for my crash damaged 04 Tuono - I'm specifically looking for the mesh screens, lower body work, crash bung shrouds etc, but would be kinda happy with a 54 racing set :)

Cheers

Peter

hi peter theres a firm called amel, who make replacement carbon parts at a very reasonable price, there just branching into bikes so if theyve not got the part you need, and you send the original for a mould, they'll give you a discounted price

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the good oil, I've placed an order with AF1 for the off the shelf items, I suspect the bike will be sorted well before the body though :)

Still nutting out whether to go for the Pazzo levers or not - just can't quite come to grips with the donation required though :)

Cheers

Peter

Good times. Thanks for the heads-up for A-Mel. I've been trying to find a carbon belly pan from the UK for a while now. Might get it made by these guys.

Speedy recovery Peter.

Sounds like your carbon panels need a little more than just a repair. My bellypan was cracked from the last owner and I did a fix with some carbon fibre sheet from ebay, and some good epoxy (not araldite - doesn't set hard enough you know).

Heres how - spread wide sticky tape over the crack on the smooth (show!) side, then lay the fibre sheet on the inside, and wipe with enough mixed epoxy to dampen. Lay another layer, and do the same. Grab a sheet of cling film and lay it over the sheet and smooth out any bubbles (with pressure, to force the epoxy out though any cracks) and leave to set. The tape and cling film just comes off later and a little wet and dry (very fine) glass paper and a polish and good as new.

No good if your panels are spread to the four winds but...

Carbon Cures

That's a decent description of fixing broken carbon bits. Most likely a lot cheaper than buying new ones. My broken bits are original plastic stuff, so I'm looking at replacing them with new, shiny, carbon things. I'd like to shave a fair amount of weight off the bike in general. After the minimal bodywork the next step would be the wheels. Racing awheels and potholes just don't play well together...

And you know you can get carbon fibre WHEELS too...:drool

Yum yum.

Oh to dream.

Mind you, they must be brittle as all hell. :yeahright

Yessssssss the Carbon rims are unbelievable (and fuggin sexy), anything that improves on the rotational inertia of the wheel is pretty wild, anecdotally they are good for 3 seconds on the track.
Not sure if I'd take them 'bush bashing' but I looked long and hard at throwing them on my Laverda Formula :)

Carbon rims... If only. I'd be sh*****g my pants riding on normal roads with them things. It would be nice to have a go on the track, though. After a couple of epic European tournees I'm veering towards pimping the bike up and making it as light as possible and sticking it in the back of a van and doing the long transfers on four wheels to keep te bike fresh for the twisties.

A van with a foldable bed in the back all decked out with faux tiger fur, bling wheels and a sound system full of reggaeton. Now where did I put my aviators...

the van sounds good:thumbup

My stock rims take quite the beating on the potholes around Edmonton. One good pop from a pothole and the CF wheels would explode in a cloud of resin and black dust... Probably at speed. Not good.
And I love the idea of blue Pazzo's to match my rims... just hard to do as my Scottish nature says that the stock levers work fine and therefore not in need of *expensive* replacement. Then there is the overbore kit to go a little faster... ooohhhh gawd, when does it stop??
