Having started my biking days on an RS125 - I've now served my two years on a Bandit 600...finally insurance down to reasonable level!

Looking forward to finding the right RSV1000! WOOPWOOP!! :)

Any pointers on what to look for, I've got around £2.5k, looking for an RSV 2001/2002 model.

Tips / Pointers all welcome (or anyone that has a bike they are looking to sell!).

Thanks,

Rob. :)

Welcome mate you will get lots of advice from the members on here, good lot and they can be trusted. I am relatively new to the site so will leave it to those who know better to point you on the right direction, But you should get something nice to love for £2.5k Good Luck.:thumbup

pointers i've got two of the little ***** don't get one there a pain in the ***:biggrin

but good luck in finding a rsv sure you'll get a minter with that cash:thumbup

QUICK! send a PM to andirsv, he'll sell u one of his:lol you'll get a nice one for that i'm sure. be patient and you'll get a nice example. take someone that knows a little bit about the Ape (not me, hehe)

Best to get a mille that hasn't been molested. It is better to molest your mille yourself so you know exactly what has been done, imo. Go for good clean standard mille or mille r. For your money you will be able to get a relatively low mileage bike, not that mileage is a major issue on these rotax engines. 15,000 under would be good with full service history me thinks. Good luck

have a good look mate you will get a good one for that amount of cash then you need lot more to mod it they are fab bikes ho yes welcome to the zone

make ya choice ,whatever floats your boat ...then get one of the loons on here take a peak with you before you buy mate ....or take loads of pics and lets the vets [veterans ] on here advise you'll find the right one then :thumbup then sit back get on fleabay and start buyin trinkets :devious

Simply buy the most pampered unmolested one you can find that's been kept in a garage by an owner who knows about these bikes. Check the bike starts instantly, check the frame behind the gear and rear brake pedal for signs the bike's been over. Also check the swingarm behind the exhaust for marks and make sure there is no mechnical graunching on start up. RSV's stand the test of time very well if they've been looked after correctly and should be virtually mint. There are many dogs out there that have had hard lives so spend your time carefully sifting through the crap

as all the boys said...

i spent nearly 3 months looking for a clean one...looked at a lot of bikes but bought the cleanest one i could find..it was an older 99 model but some of the dogs i looked at were unreal

when you get told its a nice clean bike and you turn up to find a dented frame, track day tyres blued right to the edge, filler showing on the rear of panels...dented exhaust, small bits and bolts missing..etc and this was all on one bike:eek:you'll understand why looking for a clean bike is important

good luck with the search

I wanted a 2001 onwards for the newer shape but saw some
rotters then found my 2000 version and was low
mileage and great condition so had his hand of at 2k !!

For 2.5k u can get a lovely bike !! Pos even an r version !!

hey thanks for all the good hints and tips!!!

Crazy number of RSV's for sale at the moment, went to have a look at one today...guy had painted it with a bloody brush...he says to give a 'rustic' look....pretty much achieved a **** look! :(

keeping looking anyway - hopefully shifted my bandit 600 today, so hopefully will find one during the next week to two.
