What a mistake i nearly made.

I nearly swapped my Mille (51) for an R1 a few months back, but ive now moved and am doing 40 miles a day and my gosh....... the mille is beautiful. More than enough power for anyone but Rossi (imo), the handling and comfort are sublime. I still think my Mille sounds a bit... uh... restricted - even with an Akra can, (perhaps an airbox mod would help??), but i love her.

She is beautiful, fast, and comfy, what more could i ask for in a 24/7 365 commuter come hooner???

the mille is fantastic, not just saying it cos its a mille forum,it really is the best bike ive ridden/owned,im speaking for me,it suits me down to the ground.
dont get me wrong,i totaly adored my 98 r1 back in 2000,all other r1 models ive rode/owned since then havent been a patch on the original,oh theyre fast fookin bikes and quicker around a track, but lack all the feeling of holding onto a wild bulls horns, the mille feels the same as the early r1,but with better handling/feedback/sound.
some folk try the mille but return to il4's,but i love mine like you do buddy, never thought about swapping mine for a second.

Now heres a bit of useless info for ya......Rossi actually owns a mille in his private collection :thumbup:thumbup and thats fact :thumbup

cos that man has taste, didnt think it possible,
but that mans just gone up even further in my estimation.
bet its fookn silver too.

ahhh he couldnt get hold of a silver un i suspect.lol
thought he'd have gone with yellow, due to his love of sun/moon designs.

I think you wil always be biased towards the bike you ride, it is the same in everything, when I played golf I always was a member of the best golf club.

Milles perfect amount of power for the road, an R1 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much, I couldn't ride mine for fear of it spitting me off

Mille is best bike for me and black is fastest.
And get the airbox mod. Induction noise:drool

I second that, black(or carbon) is the fastest, do the airbox mod, dont repack yer zorst and take the foam off yer side panels, she wil be loud enough for you then!!
cheers
Ck

talking of repacking exhausts lol took mine off the other day to clean it up and it had a slight rattle to it, no wonder its so loud

done a 300 hundred mile blast from home round the lakes back home onley stopping for fuel and the odd smoke and at 6ft 2" no problems with comfort what a bike couldn't agree more:thumbup

yeah mate i am a comuter to. only had her 3 months love her just had new back tyre bloody hell even better .induction noise i like the sound of that no pun intended.but i dont like spanners or tools so how easy is it to mod think mines standard .got blue flame evo on tri oval .

I am a big bloke and I think the Aprilia is the most comfortable race bike for us big blokes. I have ridden my mates older R1 (X plate) and it was surprisingly comfy. Although I dont think it was anything like as much fun to ride as the priller. It definitely didn't wheeley off the throttle as well as my bike. Saying that I did enjoy screaming the four and playing with the clutch and the power band. Love that comment about the Aprilia being like riding a bull holding its horns lol.

lol, thats what it feels like though.unleashing the beast.
my early r1 was a riot to ride at the time and much comfier than my later 2002 r1,also sounded better, rode better and looked better.
same with the blades, the original and earlyfox eyye models were by far the most brutal and fun to ride.my mille reminds me of those earlier bikes with the slight wait till all hell broke loose power delivery.
you think youve twisted the throttle all the way till you realise theres another half twist to go,then she really digs deep with that back tyre and fires you forward with force....and that noise omfg!!!
and yes, theyre perfect for us manly sized chaps lol.
