I would love to buy a V4 this year however SHE wants more money spent on the house, so I think it's likely to be a later gen 2 factory for me.
I have owned a couple of RSVs and a Tuono before but never a Factory, what are the buying advice/watch outs..?

I've always been lucky and never had any trouble with reliability nor any sprag clutch or starter issues, always used optimates etc...

Any pointers are appreciated, I work all over the south and midlands so gonna call into some dealers to have a look.
 
They're jist the same mucker,,,,,,,so whitever you'd look oot fir wae the others will apply tae a factory.
 
Are the Ohlins more prone to leaky seals ? Something I heard but doesn't particularly worry me, just interested in people's thoughts . Wanna get those juices flowing
 
Aye mine went at 6k but they fitted revised seals and thy're still good at 20+k.

I think the black dream/09 bikes had the revised seals fitted as standard.
 
Yeah,the original Ohlins seals were'nt the best.One of the few cases where pattern/aftermarket seals are better.
 
As has been said.
If you're going for a Factory, it's always worth checking the axle clamps on the forks.
They're really prone to cracking if the wheels been put back in by a gorilla. :thumbup

Had a look at a factory today' all looked very clean.only question I have now is about the wheels:

What wheels should be on a tuono factory from 2007/8 ? I've had a few sets of Oz wheels before on older bikes that have been embossed inside one of the square parts where the spokes meet (if that makes any bloody sense, gone brain dead tonight), but these were always older bikes.

The wheels is saw today were embossed with some lettering on the rim and simply an Oz sticker, although the design looked like Oz wheels.....help....wtf am I on about....! Can anyone help or even understand me...
 
OZ stopped supplying wheels to Aprilia in 2007/8.If the bike is a late 2008 it will probably have Maglatech wheels fitted.
As you already knew,OZ wheels have a a logo on the spokes and lettering on the rim.
The Maglatechs are a very similar design to OZ and the forged versions fitted to the factory are a little lighter than the OZ's.
 
The new ones fitted by aprilia are manufactured by Malgatec, same style as the old OZ though.

if youre close enough to me up on the north coast and need a 2nd set of eyes and ears give me shout .
 
Hi hi lift,
I'm near to Diss in south naaaarfk and the bike is in surrey, I just happen to work all over the place and took a detour to have a look, appreciate the offer though.
