Buying an RSV need help with ERR code on dashboard.

Hi, I was wondering if you could please help. I'm buying a 2007 Factory RSV. I've put down a £500 deposit and agreed £3900 as a total price. It has full service history and 16,000 miles on the clock. MOT has just expired and it's now due a service. There are some cosmetic bits which I can sort but on the dashboard which have a crack in the lens there is an ERR code. The dash all works fine but I'm not sure what this code means and if its serious. Have any of you seen this and could offer me some advice? I'm due to collect it in five days time. ERR = communication issue between Dash and main ecu. If it's a dealer make them fix it first before you part with anymore cash.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It's a private sale unfortunately. I've read that sometimes it can be dodgy connections but never sure. I don't want to end up with a big repair bill before I even get going.

That's the chance you take buying a private sale with faults. It could be an easy fix from a loom issue or it could be more serious. Hence why if it were me I would insist it is fixed or a financial consideration in the price based on the worst case scenario.

Thanks. I've been on the phone this morning to my local aprilia dealer for quite a while. They were very helpful which is a change from other dealers I've been in touch with.
He says the same in that there is an interruption somewhere in the loom causing the ERR code. He suggested cleaning all connectors which 9 timed out of 10 is the cause. If it doesn't work then worse case is a couple of hours in the workshop and they will have it sorted. As long as there are no other fault codes behind it and the bike runs well he didn't seem overly concerned.
I got the guy selling it down to £3900 from £4250. I may ring him and see if he can go lower.
