Buying adventure tyres online

Hi all, I'm posting this here as it's a far more informative forum than the one for my other bike. My RSVR ain't getting replaced!

I've got a Yamaha XT660z and need some new tyres but I've got inner tubes in both wheels and the tyres online don't seem to mention TT or TL for the fronts. I'm after some Avon Gripsters. Is there any sort of rule of thumb when putting tyres on TT wheels?

Hi Dazthephot

I have an XT660Z 08 as well as an RSVR, i run Tubeless tires perfectly with tubes in them. it should not give an problem and it got me from Netherlands to greece and back without an issue at all 10k!

Karoo 3 i run.

Kind regards,

Jorrit

Hey Jorrit, what a fine choice in bikes you have ha ha!
Thanks for the advice, I've got some more Tourances coming but I will look at the Karoo for next time.
Cheers

Incidentally I just looked at the Karoo 3 and they seem quite off road biased. What are they like on Tarmac?

The wear is quite good on tarmac aswell just don't corner like the rsv and it should be all good :)

I'm just testing these, i have had a lot of tires already gone through (TKC 80 front is good 25k easy but back gone in 6k)
Heidenau K60 Scout, i didnt like these, not even 10k on the tires it was rather bad
Enduro sahara 3, bad choice with wet weather on tarmac

i drive about 30k a year on this bike on-off road

Hope it helps, and if you need any technical advice or mods etc send me a PM

Hi again,
Thanks for the tyre detail it's a great help. I'm lucky if I get 2k on each bike a year!
I've only had the XT 4 months and done one 1200 mile Scotland trip on it so just breaking it in. I hope to get out more soon.
I will come to you for advice of you don't mind, I think the first mod will be to sort the snatchy throttle out. Prob the fuel mod that's mentioned.
Cheers
Daz

Yeah the kev mod and the O2 mods are great, makes it run a lot more easy and can adjust all you want,

if you go to xt660.com and send kev a pm he can get you a good deal for both ^^

Hi Jorrit , hope you're well. I have a question if you don't mind.
I had reason to change my front brake pads on the tenere and have discovered that the slider pins are seized causing uneven wear on the pads and some rubbing of the brake disc on the metal guide inside. Have you come across this and found a solution beyond buying new calipers? I'm told the brembo are unserviceable
Thanks
Daz
