Budget Tyre Advice"¦

I'm looking for an affordable set of tyres to put on the Tuono to get me through the rest of the year for general fair weather road riding with a possible track day or two thrown in. Obviously don't want the budget issue to affect my safety, so I am looking for a set that provide enough grip for confidence yet will last. Found the following pair deals for under £140 delivered.

Maxxis Supermaxx Sport
Have read these are a good sports tyre that provide plenty of grip in the dry but are rubbish in the wet & don't last long i.e. would be lucky to get 1500 miles out of them?

Continental Conti Motion
Have read these are a sports / touring tyre that work well in all weather conditions & last a while (someone recons over 5000 miles) but not as grippy as the above?

Reading about them is great but has anyone one here had any experience of either tyre or have you got a better suggestion for the same kind of money? I'm an average rider that can twist the wrist when needed but don't need a set of hoops that will put me on pole for a BSB meet.

I'm not going to follow this with a 180 or 190 rear debate either, honest!

Cheers, Robbo :thumbup

Done a deal & bought a set of the Sportmax Qualifiers :thumbup

So you rate them then?

Hope I ain't made a mistake with size as rear tyre purchased is a 180/55 over the current 190/50. Heard lots of pros & cons but suppose I'll have to find out for myself now!

Its not a biggie the bike will turn quicker but will move around a tad more when cranked over ,if you dont like it just swap back on your next change.

A wonder how many on here run wae a 190/50 ???

Hi

The wife's bike came with pirelli tyres on but have jest put some mich pilot road 3's on (that how i found the f - - ked disc on the front) she is running a 120/70-17 & 190/55-17 but next time will go for the 190/50-17. They work really well on my B KING getting about 4000 miles out of the back about 6000 miles out of the front.
Try a company called BCT motorcycles on the net also try M&P's in swansea they got some deals on at the mo.

Hope this helps
