can I ask if anyone has ever experienced bubbling tank paint on their gen two tanks ??

Mine seems to be getting worse, down both sides. Took it to a paint shop this morning, and they suggested it may be the ethanol in petrol that is causing it, and suggested I ask on the Aprilia forums. So here I am, asking.

Ive seen a few posts re probs in the usa (they have a higher % of ethanol over there) but we mostly "only" have 5% here. dont recall seeing anyone with probs here..... yet - but one day it will come....
If you look over on the af1 site there is plenty on it...

I have asked the very same question over there, and did a quick search, and found a couple posts about it, so why would it be happening to me, over here ??

The very strange thing is, this is my second T, and wasn't an issue with my 08 model, this one is a 57 plate, so basically the same bike.

I suspect it might be the case, but excuse my ignorance, what would cause the bubbling, as it seems to be spreading.

I suspect it's not original paint, in which case it could be down to poor preparation,ie has it been etch primed, de-greased etc. sounds like you have been unlucky and are going to have to bite the bullet for repair.

You never know mate, with flea bay and the likes your tank could have been replaced at any time from anywhere. Consequently your seeing the truth come out. Either that or the rest of us have a nasty delayed surprise in store.:crazy

It'll be down to a fuel over spill mucker, don't matter where yer look or whether the fuel is E5 or E10.

At some point you've let fuel spill down the sides of the tank and whit yer seein is the reaction to it.
