brown connector help please...

...I'm trying to remove the brown connectors.

I have a 2006 with 2 connectors...so that when the 'extension' piece is removed, there is insufficient space to get the crimpers/soldering iron in there.

So my plan was to attach a length of wire to the end of the stator brown plug/wire (which is connected to the stator on l/h side of the motor) and pull it all back through to the stator side...do my fix and extend with new connections....then use the length of wire to pull it all back through the vee of the motor to the r/h reg/rect. side...and wire it all up

seems simple enough in principle...but **** me...there's NO space to pull back from the stator side...the stator output is a 90deg rubber grommet...and if I pull that back I'm likely to break the seal or tear it....on top of that, there are hoses, breathers and wiring looms taking up all the slack space..

am I missing something here?

do I need to strip out the ancillaries on the top of the motor (airbox/tb's etc) to get access to the frigging thing??

also...does anyone have a 5 year old child that I could borrow for the afternoon please? it would appear that only an infants hand could fit into that space...I recon Aprilia must employ migets/pixies or a 'bambino' workforce to assemble the thing...

Tifa min, is yer connectors needin changed cos thir lookin melted or corroded or is it just because o a the stories aboot the potential that they could be a prob.

Ahv checked oot the ones on ma T and they all look good an fine wi nuthin loose or rattley so ahm optin tae jist leave well alone. ie if it aint broke why fix it! (micht regret that wan day but hey...)

if it aint broke dont fix it !
the brown connectors were only a problem on the very first 04 rsv's and that was because they had a extension piece and the connector was between the v on the r/h side and used to get dirty and coroded and then burnt out.
i have never had to replace a brown connector on a tuono or any 05 onwards rsv's yet and belive me i see a lot of them.
if your worried about it just clean it up and put some battery terminal grease (dialectric grease) on the spades.

Not according to this link - http://www.joe250.com/motorcycles/tu...onnectors.html

CharlieT puts some fancy potion to stop that and some fancy potion to repel moisture when he does the fancy service. I've been out and got some for the Fuono today. Dialectric grease or summat. Going on everything now all the fairings off and it's a bit more exposed to the elements.

just a thought as the three wires are the same colour does it mater if you mix them up when re connecting

No mix em up as you like ,the output is ac yet to be rectified , Charley my plug on my 04 tuono was brown and melted and was replaced by in line crimps much better.
