broken weld common problem?

Hi guys, anyone with the same problem?
The right passenger footrest bracket that also holds the exhaust is fixed with two bolts. The bolts go in two plugs that are welded on the inside only in one of the tubes of the subframe.
My mille has a broken weld of the rear-most of the two plugs. If you dis-assemble the bracket you can actually take the plug out and look at the cracked weld. The frame itself in still intact.

If i look at the design of the construction (i am a mechanical engineer) i can see that it definitely would improve with a weld at the outside of the frame as well.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do newer rsv's have these plugs welded in a different way?

Thats a new one to me:dunno, its only the sub frame so a replacement shouldn't be to expensive. I am in cumbria at the moment so I can't check my bike but am sure mine does't have any welds at all round the plugs but can't be 100% sure on that. The only reason I could think of why its cracked as it has been down on the exhaust side.

I still have an undamaged original can, so i don't think its likely to be from a fall. I 'll take it apart tomorrow and take some pictures .

Ok
To a certain extend ignorance can be compensated with common sense, .
I don't know how to put images in a post like this, so I put a few pictures in "My garage"
they show the details of the broken weld. the close-up shows thhe plug that should be firmly welded to the frame. Its a typical fatigue break, with grow lines of the crack.

I think the only decent way to repair is by welding.

I agree, looks like poor build quality to me rather than actual damage.

If that was mine I'm afraid the rear subframe would have to be removed and that threaded insert would have to be welded back in.

Héééé ( that's what Dutchmen say when they are surprised) Olllie, thanks man. this looks more like it!
I'm lucky enough to have a family member who is an experience TIG welder. I'll take off the rear frame and have it repaired.
Thanks for all the advice!
