Bridgestone BT002 or BT016??

I'm planning on getting some new tires for my first ride on my Aprilia (actually on a V-Twin). I just finished rebuilding my best friend that passed aways 2000 Mille (check my avatar) and I want to put some new tires on it but don't have much money from restoring his bike.

I've heard good things about both the BT002 and the BT016. I would rather have the best grip and sacrifice tire life instead of Aprilia life. I will probably do Pilot Power 2CTs in the future but just the rear costs as much as a set of Bridgestones. Any info between these to Battlax tires?

I lot of members on here swear by the 16's. You have to be carefull with track biased tyres as although they're more grippy than a road biased tyre once they're warm, they take longer and more sustained fast riding to maintain this level of grip. Some don't like the rain either. Saying that, you dont say what sort of riding you do?

Not alot of high speed stuff but a whole lot of twisties and switchbacks. I guess you could say very high spirited (foot peg dragging is a constant thing).

I'm looking for something close to Michelin Pilot Powers but not the same price. As far as weather it does rain here at a moments notice but I don't take the bike out under 60 degrees.

Bt002 is for the track, bt16 is for the street.

So its not realy that hard to decide :)

They say that about alot of tires but some people are able to double them. I will be doing some tracking as well. Also I really liked the BT014 so maybe something close to that.

Street tyre,
-heats up fast
-more milles
-grips more than you need
-not so affected by heat cycles.

Track tyre
-even more sticky, but it needs to be heated up, which you wont do it on the street
-costs more, less milles, affected by heat cycles
-usualy a bit diferent shape, so bike handles better
-crap on rain

To sum everything up, there is a reason why one is called a STREET and another TRACK TYRE, even if you are Rossy on the street its still a diferent terrain, more straights, less braking, less acceleration, and so on.

The choice is quite simple :)

I stuck 14's on mine a few months ago cos they are cheaper than the newer 16's and so far i think they're good. £160 fitted i think theyt were.

Sounds like BT016 are the way to go. You think they're better than Dunlop Qualifiers. I rode those on my buddies R-1 and it took a little more time than expected for them to heat up and the ride is pretty hard.

I've done a trip to the ring and a bit of blatting around on 016's. Just over 2000 miles in total and they look about half gone. Metzlers were shot long before this.

you can get a street version of the bt002

I have run the street 002, toured to france on them for a weekend, a track day & some
rear did about 2000
Got caught in the wet with them a few times, were pretty good
Awesome in the dry

Much prefer these over the bt016 so much so just replaced them with another set of bt002

2ct M8 i ve ridden in torrential rain back from the TT and the grip is phenomenal!!.

If you go for a 180 fitment youll be laughing all the way through the corner.

A lady in a minivan clipped him. After seeing how much it would cost to get the Aprilia fixed he had the insurance total it out. He took the money and bought an R1 and the insurance company gave him a buy back option so he bought the Mille back for about 400 dollars. He let some of the guys in our motorcycle club "Fulltilt Riders MC" take parts off the bike as they needed. He then passed away in an accident on his R1 that resulted from rode debris. HIs parents inherited his belongings and gave me his Aprilia.

002 every day, no brainer ! They are fantastic tyres and the level of grip is awesome, I don't think you'll need anything better for the road. They do take a little longer than Dunlops to warm up but are much better imo. Just ask "Camnegetit" he can't keep up and he has the same bike (RSVR 01) and runs 014's.

016 for me. Have ridden on most of the soft tyres out there on both track and road, and if you are only going on the road you will love the 016. Done 2500 miles of HARD riding on roads i know very well, and there is still about another thou left on the rear. with out doubt, they will be replaced with same again. To many people put race rubber on road bikes for bragging rights, and they never warm up to the temp they were designed to opperate at, thus wear out quickly due to cold tear.

It looks as though 016's are the way to go mate, I might try them myself next time :dunno
