Its a common problem, and discussed i nsome depth on AF1. It is only a dust boot, and not offering any real protection.

I was told to smear with grease and it will be fine. Mine has been like that for 2 years now..

Or the alternative is buy a full replacment, but it aint cheap. Brembo don't sell the spares.

how do i get the push rod back in it as it has only got a hole in the side of it so will still slide over if i can get it on

thanks mate ,dont they even do a service kit for the master cylinder then ?

kawasakiinit, I had the same problem when fitting pazzo levers. Brembo will not supply any sort of rebuild kit for the cylinder even though it's just the dust seal that you need :jack. I was told that the whole unit could be serviced if sent away but after searching came to a deadend :dunno. I asked Lord spoonz and he confirmed that a new master cylinder, or second hand, was the only way to get the dust seal. Got one off fleabay in the end. I found the best way to get the pushrod back in was to grease the rod like danf1234 said, I used silicone grease as it wont rot the rubber, and with a thin long nose set of pliers carefully hold the shoulder of the seal just behind where the pushrod enters so that the lip on the seal doesn't get pushed in when you push the rod in. Hope this is of help.

thanks spooky just been out to garage and got it back in, the hole in the seal is in tact, the nick i did is on the side so once the pushrod was in place i use some glue out of a cycle puncher repair kit and it seems to be holding for now.
i will monitor it and see how much it gets on my nerves ,i just know am gonna get a new one sooner or later .i like things to be just right :thumbup

do you have to strip the master cylinder down to replace the seal or does it pull out from the front ?

thanks for you help...:eatcorn
