:thumbupNow i know this is for my Evo....but hopefully will give guys an insight into doing it for Aprilia Brembos any overhaul or colour change.

This may not be the ideal or perfect way to do it, but its the way i decided to do it..

got bored today so decided to get them off my new car and get them cleaned up:inlove

Removed the front calipers from the car, this is how they looked

Removed the pins and spring clip, allowing the pads to be slid out of the caliper

MEMO0003Medium.jpg

The 4 bolts were removed and the calipers split into two

MEMO0005Medium.jpg

The inside of each half of the calipers, you can see the dust seals arent in brilliant shape
MEMO0006Medium.jpg

Using my compressor and blow gun i carefully applied compressed air into the caliper to push the pistons out, using one hand to stop the pistons being blown right out of the caliper

Pulled out the pistons from each caliper

Using a small flat screwdriver, i carefully popped out the dust seals

MEMO0011Medium.jpg

Then being even more careful the small o-ring seals inside the calipers were removed

With everything removed they looked like this

MEMO0014Medium.jpg

Blanked off any openings to protet the calipers internals and then shot blasted them to remove any loose paint

Couple of layers of paint later they looked like this :pirate

Bought a set of Brembo caliper stickers from a vinyl company who is a friend.:thumbup

Lacquered the calipers with 2 pack lacquer using a compressor and spray gun

Once dry they looked like this

So good luck hope this helps, i will soon be doing my Milles ones so will do another thread about exactly how to do them for the bike.

But hopefully a how to guide for some of ya :thumbup

good luck.

ps mods if you wanna move this to 'How To' feel free:thumbup

They look excellent mate, what's your address so I can send my calipers round for an overhaul? LOL

 TBH mate i am thinking of doing it for people for some extra money for mods

just going to do mine first then depending upon results will maybe do it for others ;)

I did my rear caliper a few months ago, with the help of the guys on here of course.

Some fuckwitt had painted is tobacco stained gold and my piston had cracked too.

Just stripped it all down and covered it in Wickes paint stripper, when it pulled off the gold paint it was like new underneath.

Sounds like you may have a cunning plan on earning money for mods there.

ive done it for a lot of the evo owners which paid for mods on my car...now its the bikes turn.

can you get the seals for the bike calipers though....i.ve searched but never found anywhere that does them

Done loads of jap bikes myself but brembo seals are hard to get hold of

:thumbup Pretty sure Griff can get them, how would you do a gold set what paint would you use.Been looking around for a gold to match, no luck yet.

i used plastikote hot paint

will stand up to the abuse and heat they get :lol

just go down to a shop and get a few tester cans....get a bit of matching surface i.e metal or something spray allow to dry and you will see roughly your final colour :thumbup

Stupid question but why did you bake them? and what paint is. Looks the nuts.

Got to do my front as some person tried to pain them gold but its not good!

the Paint is Plastikote high temp paint.

I baked them in the oven to make

1)The paint had dried on the inside aswell as out
2) no patience and it speeds up the process
3) to test the paint up to 150 degrees
4) make sure it had bonded properly

good luck when you decide to do them :thumbup

You know, I never did understand that. thanks for telling me. How long in the over and what temp? Wifes going to love me :)

i only left them a short while mate think it was 30 mins. depends on what temp your paint is....i did 150 degrees purely as these are probably the highest temp it will get up to :thumbup

in my opinion i would get a chair sit there and watch them back....just incase :thumbup
