Just past the 621mi. mark(the little wrenck icon is on),dealer says a few hundred extra miles won't hurt before the service. He can't do it for two more weeks;and the riding here in Boston has been great.

Does it really matter if I put 200 extra miles before the service if I keep it at or below 6,000rpms? Is there a special break in oil?

Thanks
Mike,,aka the old guy

Damn, you've ruined it now! O"well never mind.

I'm sure it will be fine, how about you just change the oil yourself? 621 miles? time to rev that thing out.

kd I had nearly 900 afore first service, it's now at 12.7K and getting better.

ive heard that before Aldo that they get better with a few miles on the clock is this right or just something that people say if it does get better in what way

w the best way I could describe it, is that the engine feels like it's faster to spin up and quicker to respond to the throttle action in both directions (more punch and stronger engine braking).

On the other hand it could just be me wringing it's neck with more gusto.

Check the oil level mate, I've had the wrech come on on mine when oil getting low.
I'm sure they use a mineral oil when running in, to help rings etc bed in better.
But as Aldo says a few hundred miles over is fine.

Thanks one and all, very helpful, still getting use to the British speak. What a great group.
Most fun bike I have had since my '76 RD 350.

kd, just keep it sensible and you'll be fine, get it over 6k but don't keep it at constant revs for long, jist ride it but don't rag it. :thumbup
