break disc`s

Front break disc`s..................

How much play should there be ?
Do you mean the front brake discs?
I guess you mean the amount of 'float' on the buttons? Not sure if there is an actual official measurement you can take.I usually check 'em by feel.A bit of back and forth movement is ok,but what you dont want is radial movement. With the disc bolted down, get hold of it like a steering wheel and try and turn it left or right.Any movement here, and there is a good chance the disc or carrier is cream crackered.

this play is something thats perplexed me for a while noo. Have posted on here in the past aboot it as well.

The discs on my T can be rotated back an forth a good couple millimetre or so. When oot on the last fudfest ah checked awe the 4 x Ts there and an RSVR. All had varying degrees o movement ranging from solid tae a similar movement o mine wi combinations in between.

So ahv checked a few folk oot, one bein Griff at AP. All agree there should be some play as the rotors are "floaters" on the carrier. Solid or rigid rotors defeat the purpose o a floatin disc an may indicate seizin up due tae corrossion o the bobbins/rotor/carrier either thru salty roads or lack o decent use.

The degree o movement can vary dependin on the combinations o tolerances between the rotor, the carrier and the bobbins and of course wear. Hence the variety of movement noted ower 5 bikes awe with similar usage and age group.

No one could give a definitive max movement tho. Wil mibbe drop Brembo a wee email an see if there is any def values for this.

PM sent tae Brembo UK askn the question..

...Will see if their techie types get back tae me or no

aye...good spot KB.....Rico in wi baith feet as usual.....as the calipers are Brembo ah got it intae ma heid that mibbe they wid ken the answers.

I too have radial play of about 1-2mm, but they work beautifully....I'm pretty confident (fingers x'd) that they are not going to fly apart anytime soon, so I'm just going to keep a hooning until they maybe go out of balance, or the performance starts to drop off...

Mine's the same, as long as they are working I'm happy enough
