Just bought my brand new 2013 V4 and i love everything about it. Such an awesome bike. I do have some questions for others that have had theirs a while.. Fuel Gauge, has anyone tried to put an aftermarket fuel gauge on their bike? I travel very odd amounts of miles and would love to see how much fuel i have before a ride. The trip meter is of course an icon to let me know but it would be awesome to see how much exactly i have. Exhaust, im sure there is plenty of threads about exhaust but im curious as to what is best on the bike. I worry about back Pressure.

Never had a bike with one, you know as soon as that reserve light comes on find the nearest petrol station!

You soon work out how far you get on a full tank.

Exhaust really its upto yourself....i would say that on bike like this (with this power!) you are not going to notice a difference between aka/mivv/GP/Austin etc.....I would go with what you like the look at and want to spend..

In the past I have always gone for Aka and was looking at the Austin racing pipe as the restriction is within the link however both pipes at £600-£800 I ended up going for the carbon Mivv race can at £230! which is great then spending on a Race map. Some may not line the DB killer in the end as it can be seen but removing it soon.

So in a nutshell reading all the posts I have yet to see anyone call any end can....even those cheap £150 ones from China......the Aka has been developed with the Tuono but I personally like the shorter stubby end can on the bike.

just go with what you like the look of you wont be disapointed.

Backpressue you probably thinking like I have been with the end cans...my AP dealer strongly insists no need for race map with end can....but I am going on my own thinking and that disconnecting the flap, removing the cat and no DB so a 60mm open pipe with no restriction! it must need some jetting to get the best and ensure its really ok. (just my opinion).had R1 installed power commander / Tuono V2 map 2..so why is V4 ok....I have actually risk my life time warrenty by doing this...

yes, isn't it TOTALLY amazing?! I can NOTget enough of this bike, and feel I may never learn/experience all it has!

As Dan here, I've never had a fuel gauge any of the half dozen bikes I've had over the years, always relied on tracking my mileage, and if that failed: toggle the reserve tank!

This baby is definitely thirsty one, tho; I'm averaging around 30 mpg, depending. I usually re-zero "trip 1" @ fillup and when get to around 90 miles, start looking for a Shell station (run their hi octane "V power premium). I find the "miles since going on reserve" readout feature accurate, v. helpful and fun.

I'm running an Akrapovic w/ race map. The exhaust note thus produced is the hairiest I've ever heard on an (alleged) street bike. Nothing like it, it is truly thoroughbred. V4 growls into life, screams thru the gears, and pops like an F1 on the downshift. My neighbors may not love it as much as i do, but at least they know when I'm arriving/leaving the crib!

cheers!

I've only done a few trips on mine so far and have found that I can't get better than 30 mpg, which means 90-100 miles max before the fuel light comes on. I just fill up at 90ish miles if I can. Never had a fuel gauge on a bike personally.

The standard exhaust is excellent as it is. Good looks, good sound... don't think I'll be changing it this time and that is a first for me on a bike! All this bike needs in my opinion is a tail tidy, better more adjustable levers and if you do a lot of motorway miles maybe a screen.

What's a "tail tidy"? I've seen some tidy tails along the beach routes this summer, but never a tail tidy. :)

on the fuel gauge I always ignore the fuel light and relie on the trip count down you should at least 30 miles left and I have never run out yet usually filling between 10-25 miles on the count down.
I brought a second hand Austin Racing end can and run it with no baffle at all and have not had a race map fitted it runs perfectly and I have done 13600 miles on it (it also looks and sounds amazing )
Eddie.
