This might be a daft question but I am looking to replace a load of fasteners and bolts on my Mille as a few are looking the worse for wear. Looking at replacing the front fork lower pinch bolts, front spindle nut, front brake caliper bolts, rear spindle nut, rear chain adjusters and a few others.
I was wondering if it was possible to just buy the correct size bolts from somewhere and just use them rather than go for a genuine Aprilia part?. Not so much for price reasons as most of the bolts are only a few quid each, more so for ease of obtaining them in the first place. There is a good automotive place nearby me which can sell you all sorts of bolts and fasteners in a few different finishes like stainless etc. Can I just go there and grab a handful?. For instance, the front lower fork pinch bolts are listed as "Screw w/ flange M8x40" on the Aprilia RSV 2000 parts list .PDF. Can I just go and grab 4x M8x40 bolts and use them?. Maybe stainless ones to slow down the process of looking rough in the future again?.
Any advice appreciated. :thumbup
