Always pissin down with rain Sussex
Well that was a waste of fcukin time :rant
Just tried to fit a 44 tooth rear sprocket and the chains to short, will have to put the 42 tooth back on, am I missing something :dunno

So if anyone wants a new Renthal ultralight 357U-525-44P-HA I got one for sale, just been fitted to the carrier and then taken off.

The 44-tooth sprocket is bigger - I'd have thought that would be obvious. Buy a cheap chain and try it, if you like the result you can always buy a decent chain.

Your right it is obvious, thats why I asked the question on the forum if a 108 link chain was long enough & was told it was :dunno

Hello mate, 16 front 44 rear, I believe gives roughly the same gear ratio as 15 front 42 back and you don't have to change chain. So I would keep your chain (108) put 42 back on and change front to 15 tooth. What a difference!!!!!

chain

:thumbupdo you need a new chain for 16 / 43 tooth need to no as soon as poss.had 15 / 42 but kept going for more gears

Hello steadyeddy, If you have a 108, 525 pitch chain (standard on mille upto 2003 i think) you should be o.k with the 16-43 set up and will probably have to move the back wheel closer to front on adjustment by a little. To get it spot on go to www.gearingcommander.com. Tap in your bike and CURRENT chain and sprocket settings and then tap in your proposed adjustments in CUSTOM, this site will tell you expected mph in each gear (optomistic though) and if you scroll to bottom it will tell you on a table whether you have to make any adjustments.

i have got a 16 tooth front and a 44 tooth rear with a 108 chain and still have good top end and can out accelerate my mate on his zx10r 2007 which piss's him off, oh well he needs to buy a proper bike

I have a confession to make, when I bought the bike I paid the dealer to service bike and fit 16 tooth front sprocket, never checked :jack

So just had a look and the original 17 tooth is still on there Doh
So a 16 / 44 does work with a 108 link chain, sorry

Right take it all to bits again and get a 16 tooth front :rant
