Body work dilema

As part of my winter re-vamp I'm planning on fitting a Jesters style fairing kit to my 2002 but I don't know what to do about my seat unit. I like the practicality of having a pillion perch and cubby hole for bits and bobs so the Jester seat unit is out of the question. My first thought was to go for an early model RSV (2000) unit, to my eye it looks a little sleaker than the 2002 and I'm fairly sure its an easy fit. Then I got to thinking maybe a 2004+ might look good but I'm not sure how easy it will go on, any body got any idea's? Any alternative idea's, suggestions, opinions also welcome, cheers

you would need the '04 sub frame and that would need some serious mod's including moving the regulator/rectifier and someone who is very good at aluminium welding
If I had the cash I would go for the '03 seat unit I think the vents look briliant (and it helps to keep the R/R unit cool)and the sleaker seat hump.

Thanks Mike, thats a good idea, the only thing I'm not keen on with that shape is the rear lights. Looks like the 2004 option is a non starter too. Desicions desicions

I'm going the other way. I'm currently taking off my rear 2003 and swapping out to a 2002.

Involves new lights, seat fairing and cowl but the subframe 98-2003 are identical.

(I want to keep my 2003 end however in case I want to reverse).

before the old zone went down - didnt the new rsv4 seat fit straight on to someones 2000 project bike???

Are you reffering to the RSV 2 project bike? I seem to recall him fitting an RSV4 seat but I think there was a lot of modification for it to fit.

think that was the one, hopefully he'll repost as im sure the seat was an easy fit but the rest of the body work required some messing about.

I think he had to cut the rear subframe about to make it fit and also make a few aditional fill in bits to make it look okay. To be honest it looked like a mod and not like it was meant to be there.

is Jester still about? Read a post on the Ape forums from an Italian guy who's been waiting for 2 months for his kit (don't don't the whole story so may be BS or maybe he's a bit snowed under?!).

Deacs

I think he's still around, was on here before the system crashed and I've had communications with him ref his fairing. I do have an e mail address for him you want to get hold of him?

I've got an email addy and mobile number for him. Mine should be at Griff's in less than two weeks now. I know he's got suddenly busy now everyone has their bikes garaged lol.

As for storage and practicality, I commute on mine, I just bought a kriega rucksack and bumbag, I also have a bagster if I need it, and my heated clothing lead will be sticking out somewhere discretely!!! You must make some sacrifice in the name of progress lol

hi deacs,i'm still here, italians kit is posted, told him probably 4 weeks to complete then post, it took 5 weeks and kept him upto date all the [email protected] for any info on kit..PIEMAN...YOUR KIT IS BUILT..TRIMMING ON THURSDAY..GONNA PRIME AND PREP IT FOR GRIFF..I'VE THROWN YOU A REAR HUGGER IN AS WELL..WILL POST MID NEXT WEEK..CHEERS GEZ.

can't wait dude. Griff has the painters and the photographic studio next door on standby. I'll send you a pic when its done.

Are you going for the whole kit?? Looks sweet don't it? Any thoughts on a paint job yet?

Oh yes the whole kit! Toying with either the RSV4 Alitalia WSB colours or a bit of a Aprilia/KTM crossover type thing that i've got running around my head. Red instead of the orange of course! :D

deacs, the kit is trackable, just don't fit the lights, not sure if he cuts the headlight hole or not, but the rear is clean. There is no holes other than boltholes
