Body Balancing

S

strongbow

Hey All,
Is it worth balancing my bodies with a carbtune? I have no access to a gas meter and my exhaust set up does not have the tap off plugs that the original has. What I really want to know is will I improve my situation by vacuum balancing or will I make it worse by not knowing CO levels????? Anyway how does one CO balance one of these engines with an after market exhaust, I dont mind paying someone to do it for me, just need to trust them first. Any ideas would be great.

Cheers,

Alan.

CO2 meter at tail pipes would be your best bet with no header take offs. Personally i'd go for the CO2 over the Vac. reading, but would check this also to make sure it is in the zone area. If you don't have the gas gear, then worth paying someone to do this...however i do understand the part of 'can you trust em' to do it right. Good Luck with it...worth doing tho.

Find out when Griff is doing a fettling day and book a slot. He is always popular so you have to get in quickly. Haven't used him yet but I am going to his next session. If you search for him on this site you will get the feeling he is slightly closer to the right hand side of god than jesus is when it comes to aprilias.:thumbup
Good luck and hopefully see you there

:lolHe also looks more like Jesus than Jesus does :biggrin

Griffs your man for the job, wouldn't let anyone else touch my bike! :thumbup

Can't see if you have an old or new RSV, if it has twin exhausts then no probs doing the CO set up, single exhaust makes it a little more difficult. :dunno

Always go for CO over vacuum but if all you can do at the moment is vacuum then it has to be better than nothing.

Listen to the tone of the engine whilst fettling, it must sound smooth and happy! (If your technical you'll know what I mean, if you're not then you'll just think I'm mad as a hatter) :doug

There will be a session with Griff soon either at Swindon with Mike or at mine (Holbury) or both if enough work for two days, dates not worked out with Griff yet :thumbup Both easy distance from you :biggrin

is it just a standard ego sensor that goes in the exhaust port?
do the blanking plugs come out easy?

i have a standard HEGO sensors from my kitcar that i used a few years back, think i flogged the guage but it's not a problem to use a multimeter on um

Thanks for the answers guys, I do have twin pipes and would like to get set up so I can do it myself. What sort of meter would I need? Or if it does not need to be done to often then maybe Griff would be a better bet. Smokinjoe any idea how much Griff would charge for a good tune up on a 2000 RSV? Would be good peace of mind to know it was done right, and he seems like the man for the job judging from the respect you guys have for him.

Cheers,
Alan.

If I was you I would book Griff to do a set up for you and have a chat with him regarding doing it yourself in future. :dunno
TB setup and Co is very reasonable cost with Griff and well worth the money ( He has recently done mine) and his suspension setup advice is well worth the trip to see him as well :thumbup
As I said in previous post a trip down here is being arranged soon so watch out for posts or I will pm you when we know more details if you like :thumbup

Could you PM me also please. Are you in the Holbury down by Fawley? If you are that is very close to me, but Swindon is not much of problem either. I like the idea of suspension set up advise. I guess Griff charges by the hour, if so how many people/hours does he need to make it worth his while to come to an area? Would be interesting to see how many people in the area would be willing to use his services.

Anyway if you could keep me informed I would be very grateful,

Thanks,
Alan.
