At 56500 the following work was carried out by myself:
Oil and Oil filter Renewal
Fuel Filter Renewal
New NGK Spark Plugs
Fork Oil renewal
Brake fluid Renewal
New Rear Tyre (Pirelli Diablo Strada)
Lubrication of drive shaft splines
General condition of the bike is good for the year, its starts first time, every time, and is extremely comfortable to ride, solo and 2 up. It is very economical, 2 up with the panniers/top box full on A/B roads we were getting 52mpg, and on the motorway, about 60mpg. That’s a tank range of about 170miles 2 up with luggage!
I bought her late summer 2009 from a BMW enthusiast who previously bought it from a friend who worked at a BMW dealership, so she has had a pampered life. My intention was touring France in 2010 with my partner, unfortunately plans have changed and it’s time for her to go to someone who will ride her more often than I can! Shortly after getting her home she had a full service as you can see from the list above, this cost almost £200 and I also did the task of lubricating the drive shaft splines, while this task is not difficult, more time consuming, and only needs to be carried out every 50,000 miles I’m told. The splines were in good shape with grease on them when I removed the shaft so I spread a little more on and reassembled.
Unfortunately I dropped her (without luggage) moving around the garage and this has cracked the RH rear set mount (see pic), these are available from breakers/eBay for about £20-30, 10 minute job to replace. The bike is still safe and rideable but you would need a new one to mount the right pannier securely or carry a pillion, the fairing also received a crack/scratch, although not major. I have priced her accordingly taking into account this damage.
All in all a great tourer or winter bike, and pillion rising is blissful.
