Bugger...

Dunno if a gen 2 fits in a gen 1 ... though the gen 1 does have a diff exhaust to the Gen 2 so maybe an issue there..

Give Griff a call at Aprilia performance in Tamworth - there's not much he dont know about Prillies & he will deffo point you in the right direction...

The engine fits fine. But you need to change some parts to make it go with the gen1 ECU.

Oh man, what a disaster.Tuono/Mille engines are usually fairly bulletproof.Any pointers what caused the damage?
There are a few engines on fleabay.

The parts that you have to take from your gen1 engine and put on the gen2 engine is:
The flywheel
One water temp indicator
Camshaft indicator
Both camsprockets in the front cylinderhead

And there is only two sparkplugs in the gen2 engine instead of four. So you have to remove two ignition coils, and put the cables together on the remaining igintion coils. The valve cover on the front cylinder will not fit with the new cam sprockets, unless you grind down a pice of aluminum in the cylinder head.

I think that's all (from what I can remember) that you have to do to get the gen2 enging to work in the gen1 bike.
But if it is HP you're after you will be disappointed. You will gain about 6-8 rwhp max. Not even noticeably I'm afraid.

i,ve spotted quite a few engines on e bay so will look for a gen 1 , if i get a mille engine is there any difference over the years , ie what year mille engine does the 2003 tuono take ?????thanks there ec 2bme ....quite comprehensive

everythings such a mess that it will be hard to pinpoint what caused what exactly

I would have thought any Mille or Falco engine from 1998-2003 would fit.
