Riding along today , traffic not heavy but flowing so had been on a constant throttle for maybe 3-4 minutes. A gap appeared in the traffic so I just opened the throttle and BANG ! huge backfire through the throttle bodies and a cloud of smoke out from under the tank followed by bits of burning air filter (am running hooked system).:roost

Bike is in a basic state of tune.....Gabro chip, hooked style air box, 54mm t.b's, open exhaust, blue wire cut, cam timing set, modified exhaust mid section.
We did a compression test last night and it was spot on on 1psi difference front to back, did a cam timing check and that was spot on , did a static timing test and that was spot on. did spot some crud in the fuel so cleaned and flushed that , also noticed the front butterfly valve was sticking and opening late but by 0200 this morning was too tired to work out how late (was it opening after the inlet valves were closing sort of thing).
So who knows, will ride it to work today and see whats what.
