I just bled the back brake, but instead of bleeding from front to back with the calliper up side down, I forced new fluid from back to front with the calliper in its normal position. Has anyone else tried it this way?

I always reverse bleed as imo it gives the best result and lasts longer, for an even better result bleed as normal with the caliper fitted useing a bleed mate then do a reverse bleed. i did that 2 months ago and still have a working back brake :thumbup

Thanks Brooksy, I checked the free play first, there wasn't any! Got about 1mm now. What's that spring clip for, the one near the peddle lock nut?

the clip on the pivot pin? if so it stops the pin from coming out, should also have a rubber o ring on it.

i always back bleed bike stuff, otherwise 99% of the time it's a pain in the bum to do

So that's where the split O ring came from; it fell off from that general area the first time I washed it.

I bled mine (front and back) by throwing the entire bike upside down into a welsh ditch

Good news = front brake still worked

Bad news = back brake still pash

must be cheaper and easier ways than that Welly, sounds a tad extreme

its a quick release sort o coupling. Slide O ring back then the clip pivots down so that you can then slide the actuator rod locating pin sideways and out. et voila disconnected.

Why its there and whit benefit tho ahv nae idea :dunno

......the O rings just tae secure the pivoting spring clip in case it taks a knock or ye hit a bump and pops off. Sort o belt n braces approach.

I bled mine "normally" with everything is situ, and it worked ok. oddly enough the fluid that came out the brake pipe and caliper was clear, and the reservoir was dark grey, so perhaps mine is a bit squiffy anyway. I think i was lucky, so brakes work, some don't - so it's what works on your bike.

I changed the clutch fluid today, it was filthy. I guess there's a blown seal on the slave cylinder?
