Hi all, not been on here for a while as I no longer have a Tuono, but I have been offered a 2005 one owner bike with 4000 Mls from new but it has been stored for last five years in his house dead battery so have not started it,it's like new,he said make me an offer, any idea of the value as i would like it as a second bike ,cheers buntsb

Mine was in rough shape but I bought it for $2250. Compared to R1's and other liter bikes, it was nothing so maybe price it about what a cheaper jap bike in your area would go for? $4k maybe?

$4k, or around £3k sounds about right to me too. Maybe £3.5k for starters, if really A1.

But any bike that hasn't been run for years needs checking out, and recommissioning. I wouldn't buy it until I could at least hear the engine running!

Fuel ages and changes chemically over time. If it won't burn you'll have fun purging the old fuel from the injectors! Also, bores will be bone dry as will most of the oil pressure fed bearings, if engine hasn't been run for years. So, take a plug out of reach cylinder, put 10ml of oil into each one, then gently turn engine over to lubricate the bores and pump oil round the engine without any load. Reinsert plugs, make sure battery is fully charged, and hope it will start!

Also, the compound that keep tires supple apparently only works when they are being run. If stored for 5 or more years, the compound can become hard, hence you may need a new set of tyres for starters.

That's probably a worst case scenario... but worth checking.

He wants £2500 it's as new but I think by the time I get it sorted could get a gen two with few more Mls ,i,ve had a 07 gen two and two v4's my funds won't run to a v4 ,decisions.

Gen 1 Tuono is still a good bike mucker, not too much difference in performance from my runs with gen 2s. Cheapest gen 2 that I've seen was £3700 with mid 20k on it
