Bike Camera Mount Points

Anyone got piccies of where they have mounted their bike cams?

I have mounted mine rear facing for now but would eventually like to have one forward facing and perhaps add in a switch of some kind that I can flip cameras from front to rear from the bars.

I don't suppose anyone on here has done this already?

I know that the nearside rear indicator is partially obscured by the camera, I'm working on resolving that issue. :thumbup

i mount mine in the same place but need to find another place as it vibrates too much, not sure where tho:dunno

Mine had some vibration but nothing more than I would have expected from an RSV.

Whilst over at the TT, i was chatting to quite a few guys who were using bike cams, and the one i liked fitted to a rsv was a homemade jobby from 6mm ally sheet that was also his satnav mount for his trips out and about.

He had a cut out around the fuel filler cap, and used the bolt holes with longer bolts to secure it in place. It then had 2 slight bends in it and 2 holes cut out 1 was used for the strap to go into and be secured with a bolt and nut, and the other went into the hole in the camera base.

It had perfect vision even though he had a black tint screen fitted, didnt seem to suffer from the vibes, and didnt interfere with the fuel filling operation.

A very cheap and effiecient bit of kit, and something i had hoped to make for mine this winter, if i still had my bike.......

As for the rear, on the bikes that have had there rear pillion pegs removed, could you not make something similar, and used the bolt holes to secure it in place?

Kev mounts his under the headlight mate, and it work well mounted there, its out the way so mr plod cant see it,
Is yours recording to camcorder? or other device?

I have set it to record directly to my Digital Camcorder, that way I can get around 90 minutes of footage if I set it to long play/record. :thumbup

That is if I can actually find some camera batteries that will last more than 7 minutes. :roll

I have just seen/ordered some multi voltage power leads on Flea Bay that will mean I can power up the camera and the camcorder from the bikes 12V power supply.

All that's left now is to find somewhere to stick that mike so that it doesn't distort the sound.

Had my Dogcam mounted on the inner front fairing, also had 12v leads bought from Dogcam, I also record to SDCARD on my videocam, my camera allows upto 4GB SDCARD that will record about 3.5 hrs........Take SDCRAD out of camera and plug into laptop and edit .....

I read your post and started to get all excited when I saw my Camcorder had an SD slot. Unfortunately it appears to not be able to record to the SD card and it's purely for taking still shots. :dunno

What camera are you using?

My camera is a Canon MVX30i ..... i stumbled accross it recording to SD whist going through the menu system, i have some polystyrene under rear
seat/hump (06 RSVR) with cut out for camera to sit in...... but i spoke to someone at a local bike meet with a dogcam who has his linked upto a cheap DVR player/ recorder with AV in and 2mb memory built in and only cost £60 ...
i think i may look into this as having a £350 digicam under the seat is a bit iffy...... if you need any more info give us a shout m8 :thumbup

Yo Amb,

I agree with the others that a camera on the rear is pointless... ahem.

Why not mount it where the side light bulb is? You have at least SIX inches behind there.... and which means you can mount a big Zoom lens to see how see what we do whilst waiting for you.:biggrin

On trackdays I just used to mount my bullet cam on the bottom of the nose ocne for a nice central shot. Bit of gaffer tape to keep it on and was sweet. My gsxr600k2 trackday at Sillystone .... http://www.vimeo.com/4665821 I miss the ol girl, fantastic bike. Excuse the 1st lap.... tis a bit slow, especially after the guy falls off at abbey.
