CARRICK MOTORCYCLES, EDINBURGH (YAMAHA DEALER).........

Guys, this is just a word of warning (and a request that you spread the word throughout other forums you may frequent!!) about these cowboys...............

Long story short, I took my loose Mille front wheel in to them as it was losing pressure, asked them to put a new valve on it and just check to see how the bead area was...........here is the email i sent Yamaha after I got the wheel back......

Good afternoon,
I am writing this email to express my disappointment at the price I have been charged and service I have received.
I took my loose front wheel in to your workshop as I had a slow puncture. I asked if they could remove the tyre to replace the valve and check the bead seating the tyre to the rim itself. They took the wheel and advised me they would call when it was ready.
Approximately two hours later, I received the call to advise me that my wheel was ready and that my bill was £66.00 as the mechanic “had spent about an hour working on the wheel”. I was completely shocked by this price. When I got to the workshop, a member of staff who brought me my bill met me and his exact words were “OUCH”.
My anger and disappointment stems from the fact that even after they had been working on the wheel for an hour, they have advised me that what they have done is only a temporary repair. As the bead area needs bead blasted and recoated...essentially they have charged my £66.00 for absolutely nothing as the wheel is in EXACTLY the same condition now as when they took it that day, still losing pressure!
I never once mentioned anything about “working on the wheel for an hour” and certainly would have expected a call from yourselves when you had noticed the bead was corroded and not just went ahead and carried out work that was not authorised (nor did it actually make any difference to the condition of the wheel).
To make matters worse, I called a powder coating company who will take the same wheel, strip it; bead blast and powder coat it for £65.00...LESS THAN YOU HAVE CHARGED FOR DOING ESSENTIALLY NOTHING!
I would dearly like a response to this email to explain how you can possibly justify this price and exactly what the mechanic was doing to the wheel for one hour that DIDN’T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL TO THE CONDITION IT WAS HANDED OVER IN?
I have never used your workshop, or any other Yamaha workshop for that matter but as yours was the closest motorcycle workshop to my work address I thought I would use you. I feel rather ripped off by this. In today’s financial climate, I simply cannot afford to spend £66.00 for no reason whatsoever.
Yours,

Andi Galloway.

This email was sent to them on the 24th March 2011. I received a reply from Yamaha stating they

were sorry to hear of my disappointment and have passed my concerns to Carrick to get in touch with me. This is due to Yamaha UK not overseeing the day to day running of their dealers.
We are now in June (20th to be exact) and I have heard absolutely nothing from Carrick. After numerous emails to Yamaha to advise of the lack of contact they simply pass the buck and claim they can do nothing. If nothing else, I hope this email will be sent around to warn of these cowboys! Absolutely shocking service. I will now not only never use Carrick motorcycles again but will never use nor purchase a single thing from Yamaha.

did you pay on a credit card matey..I would have refused to pay... 65 for an hours labour?, surely it should be more like 35 +vat?

Shocking service Andi m8. And the lack of response from Carrick Motorcycles Edinburgh, Yamaha dealer is illustrates how much they appear to value their reputation for customer service. Sounds like they have their head in the sand and are hoping you forget about it. Or maybe they just couldn't give a feck. :jack

Bad service from Carrick Motorcycles Edinburgh, Yamaha dealer. Carrick Motorcycles Edinburgh, Yamaha dealer have a lot to answer for. Carrick Motorcycles Edinburgh, Yamaha dealer should be avoided by the sounds of it.

"I hate Carrick, they have the most unfriendly staff i've ever met in a dealership, even worse than Two Wheels in Edinburgh, who are pretty hard to beat !
Big signs in Carrick saying 'Do not sit on the bikes'. Shove your bikes and kit up your arse, I'll go elsewhere !"

Looks like you're not the only one who has a dislike for Carrick motorcycles yamaha dealer in Charlotte street edinburgh. Supposedly a yamaha premier dealer.
